There was an update posted this morning on Simmarket, version 1.1…
"New York City Times updated to V1.1
- It improved the frame rate for some users.
- The scenery can now be used without photogrammetry turned on"
Bravo to SamScene for releasing this update! It dramatically improved the experience for me. The reduced textures are much easier on the GPU and with virtually no discernable decline in the quality of the scenery. These screens just prove it. The texture folder went from 3.45GB pre-update down to 1.22 GB. Excellent job!

Great I only have to wait 6 weeks for the update from the msfs store!
With the new update what’s the GPU memory usage? I’ve heard that earlier 8GB was not enough, and that the scenery would stutter with those systems.
I downloaded the update for Orbx last weekend and see far better performance now.
Picked this up on sale today.Slight stutters but not groundbreaking bad providing I am running an RTX2060super on 1440p ultrawide its still playable!
Still no update for this from the MS Store!
I wish I could do you a swap. The 4k original version was so much better than the newer dumbed down 2k version.
Ha! I cant even land at newark anymore. I stupidly bought the newer version thinking it was fixed but ever since i installed it i cant take off from newark or land there, crashes everytime.
Something is not playing nice
I personally didn’t notice a big difference between the 2K and 4K version, but the 4K version became unusable after one of the SU’s. A tiny decrease in quality is a small price to pay for being actually able to use it.
Do you have the payware Newark airport scenery as well? That could be a problem. The NYC scenery is working for me right now, but I generally go out of LGA, not Newark, so I’ll have to test that.
All the MSFS updates are playing poorly with airports and scenery. I’m actually stopping my airport and scenery purchases until this gets worked out. For example, Chicago Landmarks is almost unflyable for me with FPS. I had problems with airports too until devs have been updating them.
Is anyone familiar with the SamScene3D New York scenery? I’m interested in that, but not sure it is worth it. I did get the North Korea one as a trial on sale. It significantly improves the ambiance when flying around Pyongyang in an area that will likely never get a WU. However, the textures do seem “low quality / low resolution” for very close in flying, but are not noticeable when at 1000 ft AGL or higher.
Is NYC the same or better? Does it improve upon the default MSFS post WU10 NYC?
Dont have it but the reviews seem very positive. It looks like it replaces a lot of the poorer glass PG high rise buildings with proper models and puts the newer pencil type (horrible looking things if you ask me) buildings that New York now has in the sim.
I have it / like it.

If you fly around NYC enough to make the price worthwhile then definitely get it. I like it. A lot.

Its a must for NYC the missing buildings aline is worth it. Without it NYC looks terrible. I added the Scenery lights recently as well and that does add to the view.
I have RK bridges New jersey and NY. New Jersey version doesn’t effects performance but NY does. NY runs much better in SU10 though. I believe on PC it allows you to pick which bridges you want to install. You may need to buy outside the market place though,

the SamScene NYC scenery is a big improvement over the default. I also recommend adding RK Bridger’s Manhattan bridges add-on.

It’s well worth it. It’s one of the ‘must have’ bits of USA city scenery in my opinion. Along with the Fly Tampa Las Vegas scenery. Makes all the difference to probably the two most iconic cities in North America.
lax ksfo and d.c. less iconic? i’m not an american, just asking. are you sure? btw ny is my favorite city as conception of the world. i just don’t sure my self about iconic means lol… las i think is close to ny by eclectic semantic so must be it’s same favorite for me and divide first place lol… but hollywood in lax and golden gate in ksfo and there cool weather lol
