Samscene3D - USA Modern Cities Vol1 - Los Angeles, Miami, Boston & Philadelphia

Don’t see much point in holding out for 2024 myself. That’s likely nearly a year away. Do you not buy dlc for ANY game because it may (probably) will not work with the next iteration? Once you think of it that way it seems kinda silly

DLC for a game may cost me $40. I spent nearly 10K on the three flight sims in the last 3 years.

Ahh my bad. I thought this was about a $20 dlc hence the comparison to dlc.

I can’t imagine the complications that would ensue if I tried to budget my entertainment money for next year right now! I would never get to see a movie…

Tonight I spent a couple bucks on a livery pack for the DC 3 for the community flight tomorrow. Don’t sacrifice enjoyment now based on what you may or may not even care about next year. If 2024 redoes an airport you bought and it looks BETTER… trust me, you won’t care. You’ll just love the better one. I spent thousands on dlc for Train Simulator years back. I don’t play it anymore and don’t give it much thought. I enjoyed it then. It was the entertainment money for then.

I think I’ll nap this one tomorrow morning. I generally just really like Samscene. I haven’t flown any of these cities but L.A. enough to recognize a difference. I’ll have a look-see tomorrow! Los Angeles’ photogrammetry is pretty bad though so I’m hoping it’ll fix it up a bit.

I meant to post this last weekend but forgot - I bought this pack because I enjoy flying into and out of FlyTampa’s KBOS and iniBuild’s KLAX. Both cityscapes are noticeably and substantially improved compared to stock, and they make flying into and out of the major airports much more immersive. I haven’t flown around Philly or Miami much at all, so I can’t really compare those cities, but LA’s urban core and Boston alone make it a worthwhile buy for me. In particular, Boston’s core being just across the river from the airport, this update really adds some visual snap to the experience.

Indeed. I forgot to come back and post as well, but the LA cityscape is much better. I haven’t flown the others.

And Vol 2 is coming soon with SF, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Honolulu.

I hope they keep going with these! Vol. 3, Vol. 4…

I’ll definitely get Vol 2 too, but we don’t have any photogrammetry in Charlotte (I wish we did), I thought they were just enhancing photogrammetry cities, so surprised to see charlotte mentioned.

That’ll be a Day 1 buy for me. I fly into and out of the Bay Area, Hotlanta and Honolulu all the time, more than any other places in the sim.

Now, if they do a Vol 3 that includes Nashville …

Glad to hear they are continuing, I buy anything SS3D in the areas I fly. Was really happy when they started doing Canadian cities as well.

I just purchased this add-on, and I do see that there are some Miami buildings that aren’t playing nice in Miami when LatinVFR KMIA is installed as well. For example, in southern most section of South Beach, there should be a few sky scraper apartment buildings loaded in here but they aren’t. If you only have one of the two add-ons installed, (either LVFR KMIA or Modern Cities Vol. 1) they appear fine. But once you have both installed they disappear. I also used the Package Reorder Tool to move Modern Cities to the bottom but it didn’t fix it…

See screen shot below. There should be a few tall skyscrapers where the trees are just left of the plane…

SamScene provided instructions on how to work around this.

Instructions
To be compatible with other Miami airport addons, please use MSFS scenery layer index tool to adjust this scenery layer to the bottom

Yes, I already did exactly that. I moved the Sam Scene scenery all the way to the bottom using the index tool so it was below everything else and I still had that issue where those buildings didn’t appear. I also tried deleting my content.xml file and uninstalling and reinstalling both add-ons, restarting sim, etc.

I had this problem too then I installed the first USA World Update and the skyscraper apartment buildings appeared.

Interesting, I already had USA World Update installed as well. I’ll try uninstalling and reinstalling the world update to see if that works.

Unfortunately, I tried with World Update 2 USA both uninstalled and then reinstalled. In both instances, the same issue persisted where the apartment buildings didn’t spawn when both LVFR KMIA and Modern Cities (also indexed to the bottom) were installed together.

I really wish LVFR would release a KMIA version without the additional city buildings to avoid the issues with other sceneries. Either that or hopefully another dev can create a new KMIA.

That’s appears to be our only hope.
LVFR look to be out of the scenery development game for good.

Update: I reached out to the SamScene3D on Discord, and they acknowledged that it will be updated and fixed.

Could you update this post when it is? Waiting for a fix for this too.
