Pressing ESC during a Japan Tour does NOT show a Load/Save option.
Is there any way to save the flight during the flight ?
When they call it a Live Event Flight, they mean it (and enforce it). 
You’ll have full control over the tour by copying the Live Event flight plan in the Missions directory to your Roaming directory where your personal flight plans are saved by default. Rename the Live Event flight plan to something more specific to you. Load it in Free Flight, you’ll get to choose your own plane, time and WX. And you can also save in-flight.
You can also use the teleport (or whatever it’s called) to jump to one of the waypoints in the tour.
