Saved Flights Issues

Why we are not able to edit things when loading saved flights such as time, weather, fuel and etc ?

I would love to land anywhere, save and continue the flight being able to change fuel and time for example, as we are able to do with any common flight.

FS2004 for example we were able to open a saved flight and edit everything just like any flight.

Finally, I think saved flight should load with all settings just like any non-saved flight.

Edit -just spotted the links @ccrbc posted (thank you ccrbc!) so ignore my rambling below OP!

Totally agree and I wish we could get a technical explanation as to why we cannot do this in MSFS yet it was possible in XP11, FSX, FS9 etc.

  • Why cant we play with the weather in a saved flight?
  • Why cant we adjust time in a saved flight?

There is one way to adjust these things, another user of these forums told me about it and it does work. Using this its easy to change the weather in the saved flight (but it still remains locked in the game). You can change many parameters here. I’ll use the weather to give an example:

  1. Go to your saved flight file (.FLT)
  2. Make a backup of it.
  3. Open it in Notepad or any other text editor
  4. Scroll down to where you see this section:

[Weather]
UseWeatherFile=False
UseLiveWeather=False
WeatherPresetFile=.\WeatherPresets\Floyd 04 - Fluffy Clusters.WPR
WeatherCanBeLive=False
CloudmapPosOverride=False
CloudmapInitialPosX=0
CloudmapInitialPosY=0
FixedClouds=False
  1. Here you can change the WeatherPresetFile (the.WPR) to any other preset you have saved.Remember to use the full name of the preset
  2. Save the .FLT and go play

With this method at least we have a way of changing the weather type/cloud type in the saved flight.
