How do you Save Controls or Peripherals Configuration Assignments for different Aircraft.
An example: I have the Honeycomb ALPHA FLIGHT CONTROLS plus the BRAVO THROTTLE QUADRANT and I assign the various buttons, switches, dials etc. for Cessna 172 single engine aircraft and I save it.
Now I want to assign the various buttons, switches, dials etc. for say a 747 JUMBO JET and I want to save it.
Now I have two saved Configurations for two different aircraft..
Now I am in MSFS 2020 and I start up the 747 JUMBO JET WITH its saved assignment presets.
Now I switch aircraft to the Cessna 172 WITH its saved assignment presets.
How do I do this in MSFS 2020?
If you’ve saved the configuration in the Controls panel (in the options menu) then every time you change aircraft you need to go into Controls and assign the proper configuration for the aircraft you are now flying.
I really hope that Asobo revisit the whole control config thing because what we have at present is fairly…clunky.
So, YOU have 2 main flight peripherals. You can create and name multiple profiles for each one, but you cannot at present link these profiles to an aircraft or even an aircraft type and have them auto-select.
You can’t even see what functions are mapped to the throttle while you are mapping the yoke as far as I can tell!
So at present you have to create a specific profile for each device…and change those profiles for each device when you switch between the aircraft that you have mentioned.
The most sane method would probably be to create a combined virtual device in Joystick Gremlin. Map profiles to the vJoy device in game and then actually switch those Gremlin profiles outside the game. (Which you could do with an assigned hot key)
I have 4 main peripherals, one of which is split into 3 virtual peripherals in its software to overcome the 32 button limit in some older games and I also have a vJoy instance…so in addition to the keyboard and mouse which appears in the list at top I have an additional 7 peripherals in the list, each with its own device profile! What a headache.
