Over the last 2 months or so I am experiencing where the flight simulator freezes intermittent for a second or two during takeoff and landings. During the flight itself its OK, no freezes there. It’s quite frustrating as its difficult or next to impossible to land during all activities. I have had MSFS 2020 since March 2021 and I’ve had no issues up to some months ago
It happens during all take offs and landings (activities section, landing challenges and normal flight)
I have tried the following:
• Uninstalled and reinstalled the application - MSFS 2020
• Updated the AMD graphics driver. No result. Triedv the earlier version that was installed when I put my rig together (March 2021)
• Ran a memory check on my PC to check for memory errors.
Changed frame rates.
Nothing has worked. My PC Specs are as follows:
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core
128GB RAM
1 TB SSD (which MSFS 2020 is installed on)
1TB SSD Data
3TB Barracuda backup
Can you try one more thing? Go to options and turn OFF the photogrammetry (yes even in an area that does not have any photogrammetry nearby). See if that changes anything.
Welcome to the club. Asobo has not acknowledged this bug. We all need to send Zendesk reports and clearly explain it and explain that it is related to the photogrammetry option.
I’m one of several who solved the problem by doing so, I am by the way the one who started the thread “Poor performance on the ground” so I have submitted a Zendesk ticket, and Asobo’s answer to me was that they could not reproduce the problem, the game runs smooth as butter for me now, and has done so since september 8 when I took the plunge and reinstalled windows.
Full fresh Windows installation is the only solution right now. A handful of people did it (that number is growing day by day, I might be next) and it always solved the issue with photogrammetry. Unfortunately, that is the painful truth.
You did it and it did not work? You had the photogrammetry issue? I mean you were getting below 10fps on the ground and once you were in the air it was all smooth and normal? And when you turned off photogrammetry it was smooth even on the ground? It does not seem from your posts that you had this specific issue. The full Windows reinstallation is the only way for people who have this specific issue as described. It does not work for usual stutters, just for the extreme case. I am getting like 4-6 fps when I take off even in the middle of nowhere with photogrammetry ON and with OFF I get around 60fps in the exact same spot (even if there are no photogrammetry areas within thousands of miles).
