It seems the function to take a screenshot was removed. Why?
I can use the Microsoft Game Overlay. But that will include the menu bar and the window boundary (I am flying windowed most of the time). And the screenshot feature of NVIDIA is not supported by this game (videos are).
Screenshots from GeForce Experience can work if you go to Privacy control and enable Desktop capture. I would prefer a dedicated screenshot function though.
How is that done? Are you sure that is a proper answer to my question? Why does capturing the window work in X-Plane and not in MSFS? Because of a privacy setting?
It’s in the overlay settings. I’m not sure why the screenshot capture does not work without that.
It does not work. There is indeed a setting which is called “Datenschutzkontrolle” (data security) and I ried it on or off. When doing a screenshot with the assigned key it says “Für diese Funktion wird ein unterstütztes Spiel benötigt” (need a supported game for this function).
Sorry that it didn’t work out. Sounds really curious, and it might be worth sending a bug report to NVIDIA from the Send Feedback button in the bottom right of the GeForce Experience client. Let’s hope they reinstate a built-in screenshot function, that would be the most convenient way.
Yes also for me works perfectly. The only problem is that given the need to hold the yoke to fight against the continuous swaying and jerking of the airplane (that I am not used to with other sims) I have to use both hands to press windows key and the print screen and I often loose the rigth spot to take the shot. I think that it could be a good thing to have a command for the screenshots and associate it to a control easily accessible even in difficult situations.
Fair call !! But you shouldn’t have to be fighting it that much. Are you using trim to stabilise the pitch & yaw? There is also the pause options which can be mapped to a yoke button to give you some time. On the other hand I have only used GA aircraft so far, as want to build experience from the ground up in this sim, maybe faster planes are a bit more twitchy at the moment.
You might also want to look at reducing sensitivity (changing the input curve) on the yoke, that’s made a big difference for me.
Thanks Tim, yes I tried many things in order to reduce the “sensitivity” of the flight model and controls to turbulence (even with wind at 2 Knots or less…) and something worked. I am a little confused with sensitivity sliders. It seems that the yoke (Saitek) is much faster on one side than the other, and reducing or increasing sensitivity curve has no clear effects for me. Nevertheless I miss a simple “shift+spacebar” that I use in XP11, and I can do with one hand… the pause mode helps too.
Would be interested to know if it works for anyone else.
I have MSFS via steam, the screenshots I take appear in my steam activity, with the option to share. (though none are good enough to make public).
ALT + Print Scrn takes a screenshot of your active window (i.e. the game) handy if you have more then 1 monitor that way it doesn’t capture your second monitor. This only copies the pic to your clipboard. Thus you have to paste it into Paint, for example, and then save it off.
If you want to save the pic right away use WIN + ALT + Print Scrn. This saves it, by default, to \My Videos\Captures. This is using the Game Bar built into Win 10. If you want to record a video you can use WIN + ALT + R to start/stop recording. Save location is the same as screenshots. Press WIN + G if you want to get to settings to modify anything.
If you have GeForce Experience you can use ALT + F1 to save a screenshot. And ALT + F9 to start/stop recording. Use ALT + Z to get to the setting if you want to modify anything.
