I’m having horrible screen tearing whenever I move my camera. Other than that the sim runs very smoothly. I’m not using Gsync or a gsync capable monitor. I’m using DX12 and frame generation with my 4090. I tried the in-sim vsync setting but that doesn’t do anything in DX12. Then I tried vsync in the nvidia control panel with a refresh rate of 60 (that of my monitor). The fps limit did work but screen tearing was still very much visible.
I fixed this by setting the FPS in Nvidia to 2-3 FPS lower than your refresh rate. So, in my control panel - global settings, I have set the maximum FPS to 163 as my refresh rate is 165.
If you set your Nvidia CP to limit frames to 60 and you are using frame generation this is your issue. That means your in game frame rate is Iimited to 30FPS. You should have frame generation disabled and limit your fps in the Nvidia CP to 58-60 FPS, also turn Vsync on in Nvidia CP. Frame generation is of no benefit to you on a 60Hz monitor. You spent a lot of money on that beast of a card. You should buy a monitor that allows you to take advantage of it.

Hello. I was looking for a fix to screen tearing while panning and came across your response to the other guy’s question. I have a 4090 and my monitor is an Alienware 32" 4K OLED. Is frame generation a benefit to me? And, should I be limiting my FPS in NVCP? I have V-Sync off in the sim and in NVCP. All these different variations of settings between the sim and in NVCP get pretty confusing and I am getting screen tearing now.
I have a 4090 and a 27” 4k OLED monitor. I have all vsyncs off and NVCP limiting my fps to -2 below my refresh rate of 144. So, 142. That seems to have stopped the tearing for me.
I set this up based on my own research. I’m by no means an expert in NVCP.
Thanks for the suggestion. This gets so frustrating sometimes…lol. I can spend hours making tweaks to everything and I probably end up messing things up more.
