Screen tearing issue

Hi all,

I’ve tried searching this but haven’t found a solution. Just got a new 4K monitor and I notice screen tearing, but only at 4k resolution. If I drop to 2k or lower, there’s no screen tearing. This is with v-sync off in game settings, Freesync on, and Enhanced sync on. HDR is off (makes colors too saturated if on). Getting around 25 FPS at 4k on average with High settings preset.

Turning on v-sync fixed the tearing but also adds stuttering. Switching to window mode fixes it too, but this makes me feel less immersed. I can deal with it until my new RTX 3080 arrives, but would move some feedback on potential fixes until then.

Specs:

Windows 10
32GB RAM
I5 9600k
RX 5700 XT 8GB
Z-Edge U27P4K 27" 4K monitor

Try disabling HT in bios, it should be in advanced cpu settings or similar

spotted your edit there

I’m too busy watching the build up to the final

I’d just read the post and was flying over the lake district when i looked up it had changed from SMT to HT
Come on England :crossed_fingers:

My i5 9600k doesn’t have hyperthreading.

Oh Ok. Adjust your settings to get 30fps and the tearing should stop or have you tried 1440p?

Yeah sounds a bit too optimistic to be getting good 4k from an i5 9600K and a 5700xt 1440p would be a better match.
And I don’t think you’ll be much better with a 3080, will be a bit of a mismatch for your CPU, unless you are changing that too?

Lowered settings and was able to get 45fps but there was still screen tearing. If I switch to 1440p there’s no tearing.

30fps and 60fps are supported by the sim and regardless of Vsinc should produce a good if not perfect render, 45fps is neither here nor there.

Oh dear! … Sometimes I’m glad not to be English but Manx

Heard the game runs better with it off. Have mine off. Hyperthreading maybe beneficial after SU5.We shall see
