SDK broken or crappy new process

Hi, appreciate the response. The issue for me is updating the model in sim after making a change in Blender to see if a texture works etc. For example, let’s say I have my project open in sim (which I can do no problems) Then I add a say a new glass texture and want to see how it looks, I would usually export the gltf, the sim will pause for a second, the new texture will not show yet so I then go build all, close the project and reopen (all without restarting the sim) The new texture will then be visible. However now, if I want to see that new texture, I need to go build all, close the sim, replace the package in community, restart the sim and reopen the project to see how it looks. So you’re saying there is a way around this??? Based on your response above, I couldn’t see how those steps fix this?

Hi!,

  1. There is not a single word about changing the method of forming and building projects in the documentation and changes to the version of the sim.
Therefore, everyone who faced this got a lot of problems and lost a lot of time and nerves.
  2. Why was it necessary to do this if before that everything worked fine and conveniently when building a project.
  3. Now, to make and see changes to the project, even in a separate directory, you have to restart the sim 100500 times.
  4. When you make changes to the project and reboot it from the editor, the sim crashes to the desktop without warning and logs, and the project needs to be rebuilt on a new one and the sim must be restarted twice.
  5. We understand that there are errors in the work and in the creation of such complex products, but not as obvious and serious as this one, and it is simply unacceptable to release an update of the tools in this form.
I would very much like to return the previous functionality and capabilities that were in the previous version of DevMod.

There is no need to put the project into the community folder. The project after the formation and restart of the sim will appear in the directory. It just needs to be opened without building.
But this does not solve the rest of the problems. Changes cannot be made without restarting, and if you make them and try to restart the project from the editor, the sim crashes to the desktop and the project must be rebuilt. That is, the function of making changes right during the session without restarting the sim is impossible, but it was so convenient and saved a lot of time.

Yep completely agree. I’m still flabbergasted that we have not heard from Microsoft yet about this issue/oversight. At least something around how the new process works and if there is in fact a better way that none of us know about or if they actually did purposefully change it so that we now have to restart constantly to see progress.

Personal comment: As an end user of many of your great creations I want to thank you all personally for the efforts you have put in to the content you share with the community.

Can I strongly suggest, if you haven’t already, that everyone files as detailed a ticket as possible with Zendesk explaining the woes that you are currently facing with content creation? You could also include a link to this thread on the forums as part of your ticket.

Exactly the same boat. Also the aircraft filters have disappeared in the selection menu. Just to check that it wasn’t something I was doing wrong, I compiled the sample aircraft but no dice, it does not show up. I have been compiling aircraft since January. This is very frustrating!!!
Have opened a Zendesk ticket.

That makes more logical sense to me… to an illogical work flow

I can now export realtime from blender with this method

I thought I was the only one with such problems. Waiting for the fix.

This is great and all, it eliminates one step of placing into Community but I already can update model in real time for any texture or material that is already part of that build. As soon as I add a new texture, it will not show in sim in real time unless I restart the sim. So this doesn’t video really help at all.

Hello,?
It never did before, any new uv mapped texture needs to be converted by the build process, always has been this way…

I never said it didn’t but you didn’t have to restart the sim though. You just needed to close the project and then reopen after building the package. Anyway, it’s been fixed now. Everything is back to normal.

Yes everything back to normal thankfully

Has any one purchased this sim through Steam? I’m not seeing the latest hotfix (1.15.8.0) in the Steam Store which fixes the Editor issues after 1.15.7.0 patch.

Nevermind about my above…my Steam install updates automatically! Patch was installed and Editor back to normal! YES! just a slight panic thing.

Hello All,

I have a question about editing flight dynamics and aircraft using the aircraft editor, I do changes and these don’t reflect in the sim real time, for example position of lights… in order to see the changes I have to click “save” and “resync” which causes the sim to reset my camera position in order to just see a silly change like the position of a navigation light.

Is this due to a new bug? or it has been always like this? I think it would be ideal the changes reflect real time without having to re-sync, just like the visual effect editor work because it will save TONS of time to do content…

I was exhausted of the process to just add 4 lights in a place I wanted… there must be a better way to do this for sure?

Thanks in advance,
Simbol

If you use the Developer camera, it doesn’t reset when you resync the aircraft.

Thanks, I will try that… still we need something better for this…

I find the same thing… The last one would update your model in MSFS from Blender in a few seconds and show you what your adjustments looked like. Or if you wanted to add a new model, just close out of Dev Mode for a few seconds then go back in and voila your model would be there. And sometimes that still works…?? But more often than not it doesn’t with this new update.
It would be so logical to use the Reload Asset button instead of having to reboot , a painfully slow process. ex hit build and then hit reload asset and the models and changes you just built would show.

But No…

The worst SDK they have ever made. and lazy not to fix it promptly. How long will we have to wait? until sim update 6?
