Seasonal hotspots - How does it work?

The world map with hotspots and four seasons, how does it work?
Northern hemisphere is currently winter, southern is summer.
But it’s a single map! What does the word ‘winter’ represent?
Do the hotspots depend on the users real world location or on the actual northern/southern hemisphere’s season?

Every specialization/mission type has the exact same hotspot maps. Prevailing guess is that they’re just placeholders for an unfinished feature.

For instance, you can suddenly find out that wildfire is a major problem in Greenland in the winter :upside_down_face:

Aerial firefighter in Greenland is about the same as being unemployed in Greenland. Fezzik knows all about that I hear.

The general consensus is that the hotspot map isn’t accurate, so don’t base your business decisions on it. A better option is to search this forum for tips and ask other players where they have found good mission density.

I live in the state of Utah and chose an airport close to my IRL home. I lucked out as it seems to be a great location for cargo missions. I’ve done many flights as employee and freelance so I’ve got some of the surrounding states opened up on the map and usually have a pick of 8 or 9 freelance missions in my C172S.

Hopefully it stays as dense once I get a C208.

I have observed that Medium Cargo missions in high-demand areas, specifically in Australia and northern South America during the winter season, offer better payouts compared to those in the USA and Europe. While I was earning between 500,000 and 700,000 credits per flight in the US and Europe, I am now receiving between 700,000 and 1.1 million credits for the same length of missions in Australia.

From what I’ve seen so far this feature is broken. The season hotspot shows that in the winter there is a hotspot for cargo missions in the central part of south America, but actually there are almost no missions in that part.

When I emerge from the clouds and the god rays flying in VR I am often amazed at the technical skill and intelligence of the designers of this simulation.

Other times - such as contemplating the menus, and decisions like this one to name something ‘seasons’ while giving no reference as to how those seasons would apply, instead of using the Gregorian calander which applies worldwide, (eg hotspots for light cargo missions in January, 2025) - I feel that the developers are intellectually challenged and very poor at problem solving.

“just placeholders for an unfinished feature”…

Moved to User Support Hub as OP was was asking for clarification / advise.

Has there been any kind of progress happened on that topic?
