Seasons by Bijan - PC and Xbox - New Version coming soon

Haha, yes the tiny airport is right next to the waterfall. Are you not running the seasons? I only see default trees.

Sadly no! MS showed seasons when they announced MSFS 2024 last year so I’ve been waiting to see how that works out. Once we have that I’ll be keeping an eye out for any 3rd party improvements on what FS24 provides if that turns out to be a thing.

Here is the look at the real airport. The largest plane that lands there currently is the Cessna Caravan. Back in the old days it was the Twin Otter!

Coming soon in Season 8.

great stuff man! Thanks for all the work you do!

My couple of cents suggesting mods that I think would bring some life to the msfs world:

People: Small crowds of very low poly human figures around places known for consistently having crowds of people around. Like tourist destination landmarks, downtowns of big cities, etc. I remember FSX having small, medium and large crowds in their bgl libraries.

Birds: I know there is an specialized and regionalized mod for that, but I think we need a more generic, simpler, version of birds mod that just generates a casual couple of birds passing by. I understand there are regions, heights and seasons involved so it may be beyond the limits of whats doable with the SDK

Great idea!! That would be awesome. The crowds (in Italy) don’t seem to affect performance even where there are hundreds so they seem well optimised. Maybe Bijan could use exactly those (if then are accessible SimObjects)?

I had to stop using those mods by South Oak. For sure they were giving me a hitch when they initialise (based on range I guess). I might try again… as it’s been a while. But yeah… need a better way to generate them I think - probably too limited by the SDK options though. Nice idea though! Global based on some metric.

My pleasure.
“People” sounds great and it can bring out immersion in the sim. I will have to check out SimObject to see what’s available. If not, it can be imported from Blender.
There are lots of birds in the SDK library which can be used in any region as they are not dependent to location or season. I have used t them before in several locations.

after a quick search I found that FSX online library catalog in the Wayback machine site. I forgot how many variants of crowds were available back then:

Incredible!
Looking at the smoke, it does rather remind me of the wispy mist that rises from forests - maybe something that is transferable?

The wildfires are particularly poignant for us here in British Columbia, Canada, given that last year we lost just short of three MILLION hectares to wildfires. For perspective: that is an area not much smaller than the whole of Belgium. In one province. In one year. Not good.

Thank you for that idea. Yes that is totally doable. I will give it a shot.

Yup, I’m in Vancouver, so we just have to deal with the smoke. But elsewhere in the province, people are losing their homes and businesses. It’s heartbreaking.

I can only imagine how tough it must’ve been for your community. Losing almost three million hectares is just crazy! I hope my little wildfire sim can help raise some awareness.

Ooh, that fire module is cool. I’ve been covering the California wildfires in my stream, talking about CalFire air ops, etc. They are absolutely devastating and also have a big impact on normal aircraft operations. I’m really looking forward to the firefighting module in MSFS 2024 as it’s a very wholesome, but extremely risky aviation endeavor.

That’s great. Looking forward for MSFS 2024 as well.

Not to worry. I’m working on it!

Seeing the fire, has anyone tried adding lava to volcanoes?

I did a lava flow in Iceland a while back but never made it public. If would be cool to do a combination with smoke.

Now you mention Iceland, and given that you’ve done a few waterfalls, here’s another idea (if you’re ever bored!): ‘The Great Geysir’ (in Iceland), and some of the other geysers, around the world, that are named after it (though I see somebody has done Yellowstone). Water going up in spouts may well be trickier to do than it coming down in waterfalls .
I’ll try not to think of any other ideas for a while
