This is all great ideas.
Thanks. Keep’em coming. ,
I’m traveling to Paraguay today for a month to explore the possibilities of living there. I’m taking my desktop computer with me. It’s 26 hours flight with two connections. If they don’t lose my suitcase I’ll continue the upgrades from there at nights
Cheers
“based on actual real events”. As in from historical data, or an actual live feed? A live feed would be amazing, but having had to evacuate during the night due to a major bush fire I don’t want to just look at it, I want to try and stop it! So sad that HPG’s product was taken down by lawyers.
They’re are definitely some volcanoes that could do with some TLC in MSFS. Mt Etna was quite poor in the sim when I checked it out last.
Wildfires are so complex that it’d be very difficult to model them correctly in real-time. Fuel types and conditions, suppression/containment efforts, wind, terrain (and the combination of wind and terrain), temp/dewpoint, reignition, etc all make for a complex dataset. And that’s before you get into extreme fire behavior you see in certain conditions.
And unfortunately the fire perimeters and burn fronts/hotspots are only updated publicly once or twice a day by the GIS teams and space-based sensors. My guess is fire scenarios will mostly be on rails, but we’ll see. Maybe Bijan can shed some light on that process?
Either way, hopefully someone will put a CalFire S-2 tanker and the new C-130s in the sim. Paired with the OV-10 and UH-1, that’s a realistic combo. Beautiful birds, all.
I’ve got good news for you. I’m not sure of timing but it’s been coming along and dude’s doing some nice work
Hells Gate Rotorua. NZ
the model was shaping up great, I wonder what happened, there are no updates since last December
last week I dispatched 2 CL-415 from CYQB to try and help you out there. They were supposed to go to Williams Lake. We couldnt pass the mountains because of the smoke and they stopped at Edmonton.
Havent work for the rest of the week, so I dont know if they made it, but they made it back to CYQB
As the Season pack evolves, it will enhance the world beyond just trees. However, with MSFS2024 on the horizon, I’m still uncertain about the accuracy of the new seasons. Yes, we’re excited about the high-quality 3D trees and seasons, but questions remain about their placement, color, and species accuracy. will we have terrain color variations for different seasons? The fate of existing photogrammetry tree blocks is also unknown. Will they be like how they did Washington DC in recent update?
Regarding wildfires, I plan to update them regularly - likely few times a week - to reflect the dynamic situation. Please note that these updates will be manual, rather than a live feed.
For now, I’m focusing on future development that might most likely be compatible with MSFS2024. An example below:
New Terrain Mask in Los Angeles for Spring Season. Those familiar with Los Angeles know that the hills briefly turn green during the spring season, only to quickly turn brown for the remainder of the year.
This new mask does not effect the g1000 screens.
.As an Angeleno, I look forward to this!
This hills get green all the way up the state to the Bay Area and on the roads from SF to Sacramento and Tracy. And of course, down to San Diego.
Plitvice Lakes & Waterfalls in Croatia with animated waterfalls, watermasks, flying birds (if you can catch them while flying) and new trees.
Some California grasses start to green up in the winter, often by late December or early January. Depends on the rainfall and temp for the year to date, and where in the state. Earlier toward the coast and the more north you are. Later inland and toward SoCal.
That’s correct. Users can install the spring season update, which includes the new terrain mask, whenever they prefer. For the initial release, I will be covering areas between Oxnard and the San Fernando Valley, including the Santa Monica Mountains and the Hollywood Hills. I will add this around LAX as well.
That is gorgeous!
All active volcanoes around the world will be brought to life like never before. Stay tuned for the release of Season Pack 8
That’s the stuff!
