Given it’s been a highly requested thing, I felt it’s worth its own topic! Based on the release trailer, we will get seasons in MSFS2024, this will be a great boost to immersion and really make a difference in my mind! So really excited to have this support in-game (and for all platforms) from what it looks like!

are seasons still coming to the current mfs?
I doubt, if this follows the way updates used to be (in years gone past now) it will be only in the new version not the old.
I really hope the clouds will be as good as they used to be in te current version at least…I mean seasons have a major role in clouds formations so…but then again the trailer showed us the same lumpy and dark clouds…I’ll wait and see, i am still unsure why the decision of a new mfs since they said this was going to be a 10 year project…and it lasted 4!
“Seasons” is already marked as started (in green font) in the wishlist since last month. And from the looks of the trailer, it looks like it’s done.
I actually wonder how much of that is going to roll over to 2024 and not be included in 2020?
Well whatever is marked as “ongoing” or “started” will almost certainly make it. Rarely to they back off or cancel something once it’s “started”.

Did you see that in the June 8th that Seasons are now “planned” and not “started”? I think you’re right that anything “started” will still show up in 2020 but right now it looks like all the big new features are “planned” and being held back for 2024. Beyond what we’re seeing with AAU2 and some bug fixes it looks like getting rid of bad photogrammetry bridges might be one of the last major improvements.
There too was lots of stuff that was promised for MSFS2020 but was never introduced or fully implemented. I pledge that I will try very hard to convince myself that what will be promised for 2024 will have better luck.
Otherwise I’ll just have to wait for 2028.
Really excited for seasons - mostly autumn since we basically have a warm season and winter already. I do think autumn could potentially use a little more color variety. Some yellows and reds, even a few more greens. It’s very golden-orange at the moment. But even if we get it as is, it looks great!
But you guys surely know that those using Bijan’s Seasons addon (once a must, now abandonware but still working) had had seasons for years now. And it wasn’t even the only addon offering that. So it’s not that we’ll be seeing color variety for the first time in MSFS. It’s just that it will now be default, which is a huge change for some but business-as-usual for many others.
i am excited for the seasons, but i am not gonna invest in the game if the clouds are still lacking as they do in the current version, if anything it will make things worse, as many of us know seasons affect clouds formations and lighting, if they are still missing as they do now and we just see different colors as the only indications for seasons then it’s a big pass for me…after all, all that we saw on that trailer should have been on the current version at some stage…it now feels to me like MFS 2020 was a massive beta for the 2024 version!
Tbh, looking at the short segment in their trailer, I don’t think the color variation knocks your socks off. Bijan and even AccuSeason looked better IMO. But hard to tell from the preview.
This is probably the reason why Bijan has been silent for such a long time.
I really hope we see seasons in 2020. Currently on a round-the-world tour I arrived in the Aleutians to find them covered in snow and plenty of sea ice - in July! I’ve seen pictures of them in summer and they are chilly but full of wildflowers and no snow. It does spoil things - I was going to continue across Canada but I’m guessing that will be snow bound.
Well, this was weird - following my previous post I was in Unalaska PADU on the runway prior to takeoff for the next leg - & noticed everywhere was green & it was summer - I was using ‘Live Weather’ so that was good & different from what I experienced the previous day. But about half way down the runway as I took off everything suddenly turned to snow, with sea ice all around. I guess a bug with live weather…
