Seasons

AI still not mature enough to fully trust in such delicate stuff

Would love to see someone bring it up in the next Q&A session, it’s on the wishlist and i think

I already did and my question is number four now by votes in the relevant section. cannot share the link as it’s deemed inappropriate to promote votes across the forums.

Just came upon this post by REX:

It seems they’re coming along nicely with terrain coloring for seasons. At this point I hope Asobo abandons this endeavor. They lost the opportunity and I’d rather REX have the ability to develop this further unimpeded so we don’t have another FSLTL situation.

Excuse me for laughing but ‘they’ own the sim
The world is huge IMO it would be better for all if Blackshark can come up with a global solution and fix all the boulder trees at the same time.

Actually, I’d venture to assume it’s Microsoft that “owns” the sim and not Asobo. But regardless, it’s a shame that third parties are able to accomplish what they cannot
better and faster. Considering how they’ve handled other implementations, it would be a safe bet to assume if they do ever implement seasons, it’ll be half-baked and bugged.

REX has developed a great product. A shame we have to pay extra for what was included in the base sim in previous versions, but AccuSeason isn’t that expensive, it’s extremely simple, works flawlessly, has virtually no impact on fps, and can be automated. And it’s in constant development.

What where? certainly not FSX

Yes, FSX had seasons. As did FS2004, 2002, and so on. The ground textures changed throughout the year, natively, with no third party add-ons required, although they did exist.

Presets only and you have them in MSFS

You don’t have them in MSFS natively now. The ground and trees are summer all the time. You do realize that right?

And no they weren’t just presets. If I remember correctly they were spring, summer, fall, winter, and hard winter (snow on the ground). You could change them by adjusting the date. That may have changed throughout the versions, but native seasons in FS is not a new concept.

REX cannot do all without Asobo’s help. Currently you can’t change seasons from MSFS, REX modifies files in folders so changes must made before starting MSFS. REX real time seasons take time from a computer, so if you change time in MSFS seasons not change. It works if you select real time but not in missions. You could have summer with winter trees. So Asobo must make tree changes possible like now weather has possible.

after many months, not having seasons is absurd.

Let’s hope they announce seasons update for 2023.

Hello? Any news yet? Spring came and white grass has immediately become green again. Can it be a brown at least, eh? Developers. Developers, developers developers, developers developers!

This would be a game changer graphics wise for the sim, much more than some WUs.

Seasons should be addressed as they give a lot of inmersion. At least there is snow and all but grass, trees and fields should change through the year accordingly.

When will the seasons be released? I hope to see them soon in some updates, the release was promoted in 2022 and in mid-2023 still nothing
Please keep your promises and don’t put them as new in MFS 2024 it would not be correct

Seasons will be in MSFS 2024, but i don’t think that this feature will be available for 2020 version
(unless someone makes a mod or addone)
