Second Monitor for charts, siembrief, etc

Hi everybody, I have a doubt. I have a RTX2060 super
via HDMI connected to a 27 " 1080p 75 hz monitor. (For FS2020)
Does anyone know if I can use a second 1200p VGA monitor via Intel graphics for charts, volanta, Siembrief, etc?
Will there be conflicts with the Nvidia drivers? Or is it better to use a second HDMI monitor connected to a second port on the RTX2060?

I used my RTX 2060 Super with 2 monitors quite happily using this sim, and also others using Navigraph/Simbrief/charts etc on the 2nd screen by connecting both into the back of the card, and both at higher resolutions than 1080p. You shouldn’t have any problem with a 1080p and 1200p connecting them both up to your card.

i heard people in an xplane forum suggestig that as a solution, when there are no more free ports available on the primary graphics card. So in theory that should be possible. But as you seem to have only one Monitor connected yet, i think there would be no reason not to connect a second one to it. Performance wise i would guess the 2060 will do a way better job (even with a second screen) than an addidional Intel IGPU.

Can I inject a peripheral question in here regarding performance? I have a meager 1080ti, which does pretty well running the sim along with some of the things I do in the background during flight- such as run charts, check wx, watch or record videos, etc.

If I added a 2nd monitor for those odds-and-ends, would that eat performance, or would it essentially remain the same as I’m experiencing now? I really can’t upgrade for a few weeks at least (based on card availability and such), so I need to be careful with what kind of stress I throw at my system.

Sage - I had a 3 monitor setup with a gtx1080 recently until i upgraded to a 3080 and noticed no issues with running other stuff on the other monitors

Cool, thanks Darth. I’ll give it a whirl.

I run two monitors of my RTX 2060 Super and have ATC on my second monitor. Once you open ATC or VFR maps or whatever, on the top right of the newly opened window is a diagonal arrow, click that and then just drag to you second monitor.

I myself have a third monitor on order to have more stuff visible at all times.

The RTX 2060 Super has three ports and I’m not sure if I will use the third monitor connected to the RTX or the MB. I may connect it to the MB since I will mostly put nothing that really requires GPU intensive stuff and keep the load off th RTX.

If I can get it to work that way, if not all three monitors will be on the RTX.

Plus, if you are thinking of upgrading a video card and are worried about screens, you might well be able to keep your original card in the mix as well. Going back a12 months or so now, but I ran 560ti and also a gtx 610 to give some extra headroom for those additional monitors. Life is a bit smoother now though with a 1660 Super and a 1440 main screen. Supplementary monitors run at 1080 for other purposes.

You can fill your RTX 2060 with as many monitors as it will hold. As long as you’re only running the sim on one monitor and not running anything that requires heavy CPU or GPU usage on other monitors, you’ll see zero degradation of your sim performance.

I have 5 monitors in my setup - 1 for the sim (3440x1440), one for NaviGraph and LIttleNavMap (4k monitor), a 15" touch screen I use for my main Air Manager panel, and 2 tablets running as wireless monitors for other Air Manager panels.

There’s no difference in the performance of the sim with or without these monitors being used. There are no conflicts, ill effects, etc. It works just fine.

The only time extra monitors will affect your performance is if you run the sim on them - like using nVidia Surround to combine them into a single monitor for the sim to display on.

I’ll echo @Crunchmeister71 on this. I have an RTX 2070 Super and I run three screens and my HP G2 on it.

3440x1440 Widescreen Main Sim
2560x1440 Vertical, 3 Instrument pop-outs, 2 Sim Menu’s, and a VFR Map
1920x1080 Touch (not implemented) Screen, PFD and MFD pop-outs

The only trick was finding the right mix of HDMI and Display Port cables so each monitor would run optimum resolution and refresh rate. Then again… I’m not the type to stare at an FPS meter all day, so I can’t really tell if I’m getting a performance hit… I’m just happy to fly.

This is a pic of my current setup, although it’s an ever-evolving work in progress. A second 15" touch screen monitor will be replacing one of the tablets shortly

I get exactly the same performance in sim without those extra monitors connected. I actually went through the hassle of testing it to ensure I wasn’t compromising performance for functionality.

Ok, so by your answers, I supossed the best way is to connect a second monitor HDMI to a second port atached in the 2060 súper ,no matter resolution of this one…
Im searching second hand monitors and there are very cheap options but are VGA.I have no space to put another 27" screen monitor, that’s the reason why I was thinking on a 20" option but normally these are old monitors with only VGA connections.

This last month I was using my samsung 10" tab vía spacedesk driver. But is very small and I’m a little worry about could crash the nvidia Driver .

That’s how I have both my tablets connected - a 5th gen iPad and an ancient Lenovo Andriod tablet. No issues to report other than a little lag on the tablet displays, which is to be expected since it’s a software interface via wi-fi. The iPad definitely runs smoother since it’s more powerful.

What nvidia drivers are you using with spacedesk?
I just updated to 461.72 from 461.09 but I think I’m going back to 461.09.

Not sure offhand because I’m not at home atm. Likely either the latest or second latest driver since I did an update late last week. I didn’t see any perceivable difference after the udpate. My system runs the same way it always has.

This is my rig, as you can see I have no space for a big second monitor

A little blurry because the room is usually pretty dark, but:

[Edit: That one’s better.]

AMD 2700x, 32 Gb and I run 3 monitors on a 2060 with no down side. My center is a 34" 3440x1440, the 2 sides are matched 17" 1280x1024. LNM, vfmap, volume mixer, and 14 tabs open on Chrome. Mixed high and ultra settings @ 25-40 fps.

Ha… I guess I should have mentioned Spotify in there somewhere too. :slightly_smiling_face:
