September 3rd, 2020 Development Update

Hi, firstly welcome to the forum.

First things first, are you sure you have contacted Microsoft? I am pretty certain they would not have told you to contact Asobo (MS are the final line of support for FS).

Did you file a report ont he helpdesk? (links are avaialble here on this forum to their zendesk support). Also have you checked that your system is not running any special virus checkers, or security software? are you overclocked?

thanks for the answers, it was my mistake to install in different folders, to resolve it i uninstalled and reinstalled again and now everything is fine … thanks for the help.

Me too, and I suspect someone at Asobo got confused between metres, and miles.

It’s pretty much inevitable that something electronically published will get cracked, that’s just just how it works, however I doubt that anybody with a cracked copy will be able to use the online features, which is half the sim. Not much Asobo/Microsoft can do, but at least pirates (probably) cannot use online features.

I am sure MS/Asobo have put in the best security they can, within the bounds of reason.

As a developer myself (not for MS/Asobo) I can tell you that you can never 100% guarentee that your software cannot be pirated, unless you do unreasonable actions, such as:

  • provide the hardware, in a completely sealed, non user modifiable manner.
  • have an os that runs only that software.
  • no internet or network connectivity at all.
non of which are remotely acceptable for a game. They only are able to do the best they can within reasonabale expectations.

I am not even sure that many have pirated this software anyway, and if they did, they are most probably getting a very sub-par experience (no live weather, no dynamic downloadable imagery, no multiplayer, no updates, plus quite possibly a very viruses, and other malicious software)

That’s the problem not only has it been hacked but they have full online experience according to some. Not even the FFA320 aircraft that has been out for so long has yet to be cracked. But they cracked MSFS in a day and have online working 100%…

I cant see the latest Development Updates / News Articles on the main page. Last post I can read is “Patch Version 1.7.14.0 Is Now Available!”.

Anybody else got that problem? Maybe my browser is blocking something…

thanks for info

Hi are you talking about the official MSFS website (https://flightsimulator.com)?

yes Sir,

Okay ta, a few of the mods have been having that issue as well. The article is there and publicly available, but it is not being listed for some reason. You do not need to do anything else; I will notify the community team about the issue when I next get the chance.

So there is no purchase license verification linked to the Microsoft / Steam account?
Updates should not in theory be possible with a hacked version.
Online, account verification is systematic.

It’s stupid all the same when we see that it is available on Xbox Game Pass … at a lower monthly cost.

+1

So, tomorrow another dev update? what do you expect?

Disappointment? Oh, you mean the update itself.

Not sure, but I would welcome some news on weather. Some transparency on what is going on would be nice.

I think it’s best to go with the assumption that whatever thing is niggling you the most right now is not going to be in the patch, that way you won’t be disappointed, but will be surprised, and elated, if it is fixed.

Thumps fists on desk and chants DirectX 12 Timeline announcement!

No, but really, I’d love to see them announce that they’ve solved the weather issues and some of the Cockpit performance issues on the airliners. And maybe that the SDK is complete (so the third party stuff can really ramp up)

+1 for Transparency too

The DR shows SDK development updates for next 8 weeks or so I rather doubt the SDK will be finished anytime soon.
