Hi,
I am located in Tampa, FL and have a fly friend in Nuernberg, Germany. We used to connect with voice via Skype and MSFS2020 settings > Multiplayer = ALL; Air Traffic = LIVE; Weather = LIVE or Preset; My Server = AUTO(USA EAST); His Server = AUTO (EUROPE WEST). We flew with these settings for many months.
As of late, we can only see each other if we are both on the SAME server (either his or mine).
Question: Is it required to be on the same server to see each other?
One thing we noticed when we were on different servers: If he or myself were parked at an airport we selected, he or I could see the aircraft parked (in green) with gamertag in the World Map selection screen and prior to pressing “FLY”. However as soon as the aircraft was fully loaded into the sim, we could not see each other anymore.
Thanks for help/clarification

Yes, you both have to be on the same server to see each other during flight. The world map planner will show you both regardless, if you are set as friends in the sim/xbox.

Thanks LongHaulSky,
We will continue with the same server to see each other.
Strange thing is just that we flew for many month with each one of us having the server selection set to automatic??? (I guess it then selects the server with the fastest speed)
Thanks again
Juergen
