This is a frustrating problem for the last 5 months now, especially having purchased the Premium Deluxe.
Every time I launch I’m met with the installation manager and I have around 77gb to update, which downloads at a slow ~ 17mbps. Regardless, no matter how long I leave it on this screen (24, even 48 hours+), it will always freeze and become unresponsive. I then have no choice but to kill the process. Re-launching it again will then take me back to the same screen to start the 77gb update again.
Things I’ve tried:
Uninstall/reinstall
Reset Gaming Services
Change the update files directory to another drive entirely
Remove residual files between install/uninstall
This has been an issue for MONTHS now and is unacceptable for something that is a Microsoft branded product.
I purchased this game at the end of last year. Tried it and would not work with my joystick. Purchased another joystick friday and started the update then. It is currently at half way through the update. Been downloading ever since.
An 80 gig download usually takes me less than 2 hours. Not more than 3 days.
Plus it says i have played 21 hours. I played about 2.1 mintues last year.
This game is so far after about 8 months…Useless.

About the highest=300MBPS Actual around 30MBPS on everything. Which is
why i said most 50gigs or so downloads take less than two hours.
Limit? Monthly is 1.5TBs

Yes all drivers up to date. Including the 1080ti graphics drivers.
Yes, i have mother board drivers and everything up to date. Everything else downloads as normal. I watercool, phasechnge cool, chilled water cooling, world record holder (according to xtremeSystems.org and XCPUS.com) etc, etc.
This game and it’s support is just buggy, not optimized at all. I imagine as i have had it since last year and only played it less than 5 minutes. Loved all the other MSFS as i have been playing them sine the early 2000’s.
Yes, I usually mine bitcoin have, since stopped to try and update and play this thing. Have un installed the game along with Steam and re-installed. Updated Destiny 2 along with battlefield 5 on steam and they updated and downloaded fine and play fine. MSFS update is still downloading. Just doing it slower than Molassis in the winter.
