Setting Functions in Controls

When I first installed FS (Alpha) and for a long time afterward, when I was setting up my peripherals in the Controls section, I would bind a button or switch or axis to the appropriate function, and then, as I operated that particular button, etc. the setting in Controls would “blink” to show it was working. With the axes, I could watch the “slider” move back & forth as I moved the axis.

Somewhere down the line, during one update, that all changed. Now, when I bind an axis, I can watch that slider move with the control, but any button or switch I bind, although it works (i.e. landing gear does extend/retract when I push the button), there is no indication in the Control field that the button is actually working (i.e. no “blink” when I operate the button).

I have lived with this for a long time, but I’d really like to correct it. I have a ton of buttons and switches bound to each aircraft, and I’d like to know each bind is working without having to jump back and forth between the cockpit and the Control setting screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it’s one of the things that were broken after the update and hasn’t been fixed yet.

Well, why hasn’t anyone else complained about it? Am I the only one who can’t see my bindings work? If you agree, are you in the same boat (plane)? Every time I set or change something, it’s Escape / Controls / (choose device) / Check or Change / Save / Back / Resume.

Nope!

Rinse and repeat. I spend more time jumping back and forth between my aircraft and the Control set-uo than I do actually flying. Instead of making some minor change, let’s fix this once an for all.

BTW, Merry Christmas! :christmas_tree:

I’m sorry I spoke…

No, you just more or less confirmed that this problem still exists. I wish others would respond to this post with solutions or confirm that they too have this problem.

I keep looking at the list of problems and fixes thatMS/Asobo are working on, and this shows up nowhere. So is it a local problem for my system or software, or does MS agree that it exists?

I can still fly, but that’s not the issue. I just wish it would work the way it used to.

I think you’re right. I’ve noticed this last week when I checked which buttons on my joystick I had assigned and didn’t see them light up when I pressed the button. I thought this used to work as well, but wasn’t sure.

My joystick and switch panel are also inoperative, I can see the the joystick in the setting and the sliders operate accordingly but when i open the actual flight the joystick ( tried 2 different ones) does not operate the control surfaces. If I open the drop down on the flight screen it does not allow access to the different option in its menu ( click with mouse but no access)
Totally new to msfs2020 so another question are the 2 different download options in other words one for X-Box and one for pc? ( good thing there’s no such thing as a dumb question lol) I’m using a pc with nvidea 471.41

The same is for me - “I can watch that slider move with the control, but any button or switch I bind”.

SO - Is this “problem” worthy of a trouble ticket to Zen Desk? I find that, most of the time, I get more help and a faster response from the “group” than Zen Desk. But no one seems to know what the problem is, or how to fix it.

Yes, the “problem” is worthy of a trouble ticket to Zen Desk.

Well, I just did so! Know one of the things they want you to give them? Your entire Community folder contents. Luckily, I took a screen shot and left them an attachment.

When (if) I get an answer, I will let you know.

It is the same for an empty Community as well:)

Yes. Community folder doesn’t seem to have anything to do with it. It happens with or without a populated Community folder.

This is still an issue for me and has been for months. Am I th only one who still has this infuriating problem?

Well, just prior to being closed, I am adding that there has been no response from ZenDesk, so…

Guess it’s one of those problems that doesn’t really affect the sim, so they simply don’t care.
