Severe FPS Degradation & UI Lag after Update 1.6.34.0 (RTX 4090 / 7800X3D)

Hello all,

Since updating to version “1.6.34.0”, I am experiencing significant performance degradation over time. The simulator starts smoothly, but after several minutes of flight, the frame rate collapses, making the sim and the menus completely unusable.

My flights typically begin with a stable, capped 30 FPS during the cruise phase, but after approximately 15 to 20 minutes, the frame rate abruptly collapses to around 8 FPS. This isn’t limited to the flight environment; once the drop occurs, the UI and main menus become extremely laggy and unresponsive. Simply returning to the menu doesn’t fix it; I’m forced to perform a full restart of the simulator to restore any semblance of normal performance.

my system Specs:

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Nvidia Driver Version: 591.59
OS: Windows 11
Resizable bar: enable

In-Sim Settings:
Anti-Aliasing: TAA / DLSS
Frame Generation: ON (NVIDIA)
Global Rendering: Mixed High/Ultra
Terrain Level of Detail (LOD): 200
Resolution: 4K
Roling cache: erased

is anyone having this issue?

many thanks!

Download and run LatencyMon.

Step 1: Go to this website

Step 2: Download and install free home edition of ‘LatencyMon’ software.

Step 3: Run ‘LatencyMon’

Step 4: Set up and run this test.

I made some changes to my system after getting the bad result you see above.
My Kernel Timer Latency is now <1000ms.
That’s an 1800% improvement.
We can talk about what I did, but first we need to see your baseline.

Hi, thanks for the instructions! i run the test with the normal application i have in the background and this was the result:

i am not sure what to derive from it…

Well, it mentions CPU throttling, and realtime sound processing. What are your CPU temperatures after 20 mins? Game Mode and HAGS are enabled?
Consider getting a dedicated sound card.

Hi, yes both are on and i have a focusrite 2i2 2 gen… i need to check on the temperatures topic..

I read that the driver for the focusrite 2i2 is somehow sometines buggy with Windows.

Maybe you could try a different sound card or even with the mainboard soundcard? (I have also a 7800x3d/4090 and have no stuttering. But I have for the PC a Creative X4 soundcard)

Here’s my result after I fixed things. My Kernel Time Latency got much better. (Compare this to the screenshot I posted a few posts back.

Most importantly, the graphics drivers highlighted in blue were the ones with the biggest latency before I did the tweaks. They were really bad. Now they’re looking good.

Run LatencyMon again with ‘Kernel Timer Latency’ selected (like you did the last time.)
Let it run for 30 minutes this time. Don’t touch anything on your system (keyboard, mouse, etc.) while the test is running.

When completed, post a screenshot of the ‘Driver’ tab, like you see in my screenshot.
Let’s find out what drivers have the worst latency on your system.

Thanks for sharing, shall I do this test while u am flying in the sim?

No. Run the test with no other applications running.
Don’t touch the mouse or keyboard.

We want to see your computer’s baseline latency.
