Shadows much brighter on terrain than in cockpit (screenshots)

I just cant figure this one out. The shadows, at its darkest in the cockpit is kind of dark…black. But when looking outside the shadows, the darkest shadows of mountains etc (this one in saudi arabia, i guess) i much brighter and looks washed out! Is this because its a part of the terrain or is it the mesh that dont have the right shadows setting or… Cause…I dont get this, and it looks so weird (bad), and not very realistic.

DX12, DLSS-DLAA (but that doesnt matter I guess)

The camera imitates dynamic aperture. If you change your view to into the cockpit, you’ll see the shadows brighten up. That is also how your eyes work irl.

Yes, I know. But in this case there has to be more to it, I guess. When looking from external camera on the mountains only, it’s the same. My own guess is that the raised mesh is not automatically (or missed) adjusted, while other areas are much better done? =P

Looking at your particular screenshots I think the problem is you are mostly looking at shadows which are already on the tiles image.

These are not generated by MSFS at all, it’s just darker pixels on the aerial photo which was taken from the terrain. There is nothing which could be done about that as different companies create these photos with different exposure times across the globe, so sometimes shadows will be just too bright already in the source image.

Ok, like I thought then. =) Thanks for letting me know.

Ah yes, I agree. Not much to do about that, sadly. Except acquire better aerial images.
