Although I don’t think this feature will be present in this opus, but rather in the 2024 version.
seems likely. i think we can at least hope for a “beta” version of it for all the base airplanes. I don’t think we’ll be getting full support for all our payware planes anytime soon.
Disagree – seems very Unlikely, for so many technical reason, let alone, if it were on the Horizon for 2024, Marketing would be flogging it like a dead horse…
While 2024 “Could” include a new and developed Shared Cockpit system, when one considers the ROI, it seems very unlikely - for so many reason.
I was so sure they said they would work on shared cockpit for FS 2020 and with simulating commercial flying, sharing the workload would be so much fun and almost a must have. I can’t believe the technology is not available to do this, very sad it has not happened.
Shared cockpit would add a huge amount of new reasons to jump into MSFS and tons of flight hours enjoyment, with great and nice collaborative feature inside …
Q: How do student pilots learn to fly in RL ?
A: With a CFI
In a SHARED COCKPIT !!
I won’t even go into “No pilot left behind” !! (but I just did )
With some extensive some experience in assisting with the development of In-game Shared Cockpit in both FSX & P3D, I appreciate its not easy to implement “Reliably” Aircraft wide “Shared Cockpit”, especially on a Client-Server setups.
In FSX & P3D is was a lot easier, as both of those were Peer-to-peer,
Note P3D evolved into 2+ Shared Cockpit.
ie You could have more than 2 pilots sharing the controls of an aircraft,
I hope Asobo, if they design an In-game Shared Cockpit feature, design it from the start to support multiple sharing.
There is no addon, I know of for MSFS, that supports more than 2 in a plane
Imagine, a CFI in a Plane, teaching a student, with other student also in the plane, taking their turns to be instructed, but all present and learning at the same time.,
You can connect as many as you’re technically able to with Your Controls. And it’s actually worth a darn now compared to when it first came out. There’s a few caveats like both people need the exact same plane with same livery at the same airport running the same version of the game etc etc and while it supports most planes out there both default and 3rd party, some have a few asterisk’s to keep in mind. Otherwise works great. I’ve done several shared flights in the PMDG 737 and it’s a lot of fun!
I think if you’re connecting more than 2 people in Your Controls, anyone after the first two i think only gets to look around in “observer mode.” The host can still give control to whoever they want. Still though, i want to try and smush 16 people into a 208 and try for a party plane
It would be a great addition if a fully functioning in house shared cockpit experience would be developed by the Asobo Team.
Flying with a neat Co-Pilot or just a good friend makes Flightsimming way more interesting.
Think about my wish and dont forget a 3rd and 4th seat for the long hauls
after release means nothing, it might be 2 years after 2024 gets released…or 10 years
yeah, that bothers me as well… MSFS 2020 was supposed to have shared cockpit withing a year of release ( at least was hinted at )
should really, really be a day 1 feature for MSFS 2024
shared cockpit was listed on the wishlist as “under investigation” or “planned” for the majority of the previous 3 years. There was nothing to indicate they had any real timeline of adding in shared cockpit when there are much more crucial systems to fix and polish, until the wishlist was updated to have shared cockpit added in the next game.
I’d also hardly consider any passing mentions of shared cockpit by Jorg or whoever in a livestream a “hint.” Iirc, the most interest they had in adding shared cockpit to MSFS was having interest in adding shared cockpit to MSFS.
Msfs2020 should add in next world update “shared cockpit” option.
If nothing else just the ability to sit in same cockpit.
Sure it would be nice to control controls or handle ATC requests.
Or to teach new pilots, sitting in the right seat one can explain how and what to do
I’m very disappointed in multi-player. It is lousy. Falls short. I do love this game… but…
One player can be the pilot while the other player can be the co-pilot. Great idea!
Why you folks don’t try YourControls? Installation is no-brainer, many aircraft are supported 100% including the PMDG 737 and if you google a bit also the Fenix A320 and the Ini A310. They have an excellent Discord server for any help, reports and tips. Worth to try.
Hey, I tried YourControls, it is a good third party software, but it is still a free third party software with a lot of bugs and desync’ data. There is a lot of problem with navigation synchronization, and even weight & balance problems, which is kind of annoying when you trying to fly as real as it gets. I didn’t re-try the PMDG yet, I heard it was nice and well synchronized, and I remember having a flight with someone on discord, he was a terrible flyer but the sync’ looked okay.
It would be nice to have a solution that worked out of the box; I’m trying to get my non-flight-sim savvy gamer friends to play flight sim, and it’s a tough sell if I have to tell them to download 20 separate other files and .exes
If someone was trying to get me to play GTA and told me I had to download various mod packs and side apps to “have a real fun experience”, I’d lose interest before even buying GTA
I’ve been waiting patiently for over a year but where is it?
