Why has this topic come up again so quickly? It is nearly identical to one that started on Feb 21. It’s like thinking, " Geez, maybe I should help Amazon out and pay for shipping." Not.
In that earlier thread, I wrote, “As others have pointed out, this is all about the MS brand. This game is good for the Microsoft brand globally. Major international news sites did features on it when it was released, and it was identified as a MS product. In any given quarter, MS probably sneezes more money into this title than any competitor could ever, in its wildest dreams, hope to produce as profit through years of hard effort. Moreover, as was reported months ago, the eco-system of addons and hardware around the sim is worth billions. And every sale brings the buyer right back to this ever expanding platform. Charge for its own DLC? Why bother? As the Twitch presentations show, there is a pretty intense feedback loop connecting this game to Bing. All we’re doing is constantly beta-testing Bing content–and we’re paying MS to do it.”
Of course if MS is nudging this conversation about paid DLC into public notice to take the community’s temperature, shame on them.
