They have warned in the past that you may not see other players in MP if you are using the beta and they are on the release version, but in the case of the last two betas (8 and 9) I’ve seen other players in group flights who weren’t using the beta when I was.
That may not be the case now though. Haven’t tried it yet!
Well, there’s no guarantee that your installation will work.
That being said, I don’t think anyone has brought up game-breaking issues or anything that prevents them from playing the game yet, so you may be able to keep playing around with the sim as normal and just document a few oddities here and there.
At the moment, and just imo, you should. It performs much better than SU9 and I have encountered 0 issues with addons except for fsrealistic, which was to be expected fue to the nature of changes the update brings.
quite simple really, just copy your current install to another location, then join the beta, let in install to the old location, then run it, if it wont run correctly for you, all you have to do is goto usercfg.opt file and change the install path on the bottom of the page, to the location you copied the su9 install too, then opt out of the beta in steam, it will update the launcher, when it runs it will see the other path for the sim, and you’ll have your old sim back.
If any of this is beyond what you feel comfortable performing, then Id say stay out of the Beta, here so far limited testing here its been pretty solid.
I downloaded it and it fixed most of the stuttering for me and also exponentially increased the fps. That’s with dlss on quality mode. Don’t know if it’s worth it if you don’t have an rtx card. The shadows on the planes still look horrible since they still haven’t implemented raytracing on DX12, and DX12 performance is still awful.
This exact issue happens a lot to me in SU9 so i wouldn’t call it a beta issue as its also there in the non-beta current version. If its still there in the beta it means it still isn’t fixed yet… but thats what a beta release is for i guess.
I would say no. Given previous Beta experiences namely SU9, It’s a miserable experience to endure game breaking bugs for a few weeks in the name of “bug testing” and reporting issues which will most likely be completely ignored by the developers in the public release. So essentially you are signing up to get game breaking bugs a month ahead of everyone else. Not Worth It.
I’m not gonna download it because I don’t like the possible outcomes they mentioned in the description. I don’t feel like reinstalling all over again. I’m sure there are hundreds, if not thousands, of “other” users who are gonna do it, so no point adding another egg to the basket. I’ll just wait for the release in August.
For those on XSX, this beta is a massive improvement on the current public version. They would’ve struggled to make it worse in fairness, but I’ve had no CTD or stuttering. I cleared xbox and in game cache, and have no TP add ons. Much better experience than the last few months.
Flying experience for me is way better with the beta than without it. Stutters have disappeared. The low altitude fps reduction bug in the USA is no longer there. I’ve never seen an update or beta I love more than this one. Those are the benefits I’m sure of. There are others that I think may be there, but I’m not sure yet if its just my imagination, so I won’t mention them.
But if you fly VR you won’t like the beta. The release notes say that too.
I’m in VR exclusively and the su10 Beta is fantastic……using dx12 (no DLSS) and it’s super smooth, all of the studders from SU9 are gone now and it’s the best VR smoothness and clarity I’ve ever had. Same fps overall . DLSS gives far more fps but it makes the cockpit gauges very blurry so not using it. 2D users seem to really like the DLSS but perhaps in 2D the clarity hit on the guage isn’t as noticeable. No CTDs for me and it loads much faster and on the ground performance is very good….did a 1 hour flight and saw no fps degrade and was in a busy area with large airports. This beta so far is the best one I’ve done and clearly better than SU9. There are known issues of course in the release notes and the bug threads are also coming in via the dedicated forum section for it, but so far it appears most users are having very good experience and the fps drops and studders and CTDs of SU9 are much reduced/better….but it’s early days so we will see.
I’ve just tried another flight to see if I experience the same. I personally don’t see any excessive shaking within the cockpit compared to the airframe shaking due to turbulence. Anytime I experience shake I immediately look exterior and focus on the wing flex, so far they match evenly.
