Should I go for the 727 or the Fenix expansion?

I’ve been mulling over this for the last week now and I thought I should ask the wise council here, for advise on what one I should go for…

I have the fenix 320 and currently holidaying on this Island of the coast of Istanbul Turkey and seeing the A321s depart and arrive at the asian Istanbul airport, it seriously has me wanting that…

but…

Watching A330 driver fly the 727 and doing those addictive radial approaches…

I really need help with what one I should go for…

Are they all flyable as in no bugs… I had been following the 727 thread a bit and there are suggestions that its not quite 100% there… The fenix does have the two models… The 727 just the one…

Is the fenix more “out of the box stable”

But I love the steam gauges that the BAe brought to the sim…

What should I do “Oh wise council of the msfs forums ???”

My opinion would be to stick to the Fenix.
I haven’t gotten the 727, so other than reading posts here, I can’t offer a true perspective.
However posts here tend to say the 727 needs a bit more “polish” yet, and that’s why I haven’t purchased it.

I really have enjoyed the FSS 727, and only really had game-breaking problems the first few days after launch.

Since then it has been very pleasant to fly and they update it quite regularly.

The real answer is to get both, since both are great, but, if only one 321 and 319 are nice, but so similar to the 320, that I’d say get the 727 for variety. It works quite well now, and I’ve had a lot of fun flying it.

I had several issues with the 320, submitted a ticket and never heard back despite several follow ups.

So, while I like the 320 quite a bit, if you have a problem, you might have a problem for a looong time!

For this reason, and the fact that the 320 is pretty similar to the 19/21, I strongly consider the 727.

Do you fly the Fenix often enough?

Will the new variants change things for you? If you have all the A320 updates, then you already have everything else that’s new.

Can you handle the fact that the 727 is known to be a bit buggy?

The 7-2 has a special place for me but I have held off to wait for a bit more development on it.

I thought I would be a day-zero buyer of the 727 but initial reports weren’t that great and I didn’t care for the artwork on the main panel (instrumentation on the 6-pack doesn’t seem that accurate). In the meantime, I have enjoyed how Fenix have captured the subtle differences between the 319-230-321. There are a handful of YouTubers out there who can help you understand what to look for.

Whar is buggy on the 727?

Frag… we go way back, ol’ friend

Trust me now when I say… the moment you hear the 727 cargo door lock into position, that sound. You need that in your life. You need it before the A321.

Whenever you hear that sound, think of this council and quietly nodd how we’d never fail you. :ok_hand:

Mate…
My good old pal from the class of 2020…
We definitely go way back, like on the Bae threads and we definitely need to go for a beer at some point…
I was seriously looking at the 727 last night, like to the point of having it in the basket and I had downloaded a number of liveries…

I think you may have just pushed this purchase over the line brother… 727 I think it is :joy::joy:

I mean not to be reductive but if you’ve already got the 320 ask yourself whether the 319 and 321 will really give you a fresh new experience or not. Not to say there won’t be small differences, but in the end they’re still modern hyper automated planes that can largely fly themselves.

I don’t own the 727 but I’ve watched a few streams of it, it seems like it actually has some character and would provide you a different and potentially more challenging experience.
Take it with a grain of salt but it didn’t seem overly buggy, the streamers I watched only had a few issues pop up here and there. It actually looks really good overall and I’d be tempted to pick it up, if I wasn’t holding out for the 2024 release

I think that’s been like the major conflict in my mind between choosing the two… Had it been four months ago when I was working… I’d just buy both…
But…
Traveling and being essentially a backpacker…
But you definitely nailed it on the head…

I have the A320, absolutely love it… I’m currently staying on this island off the coast of Istanbul and right under the flight path of the “Asian side” Istanbul airport and seeing the Pegusus A321s coming over… Gosh I have been so tempted to just buy that addon and get the A319 as well (flew on that one between trabzon and Samsun)

But watching the various yt vids on such a unique and iconic aircraft that the 727 is and learning how to do ins navigation would be awesome… Like you said… On those yt vids, like a330 driver and 320simpilot…
They are real genuine guys and there doesn’t seem to be the bugs, one would assume there to be when reading the corresponding thread on this site…

Also, like you have said… Are the differences between the 320 family enough for a flight sim experience when you are in the cockpit and your on slightly limited funds while traveling, or would it be better to go with something alot more visually different and a practical challenge (especially being absolute lover for the Bae) and get the 727…

You guys have definitely given me a good insight to both aspects… So thank you very much for that and yeah… I just think that the 727 may just be the thing I buy when I get up…
