Should msfs 2020 have no further updates?

Without updates, how could any issues or enhancements get to FS 2020?

Absolutely need continuing development of 2020. Just be sure it’s stable before release (which seems to be what they’re doing).

I’m using both!

Males me miss the old MS flight sim team of yore, before MS/Asobo.

I would say no, providing performance is good currently, world updates sure. Im on 24 though. I just think surely there has to be a cut off point so the devs can put all their resources into 24”.

It will be released, though. As I already mentioned, it removes petabytes of storage necessity at Microsoft’s end, and means that when they update ground features for one sim, it will propagate to the other also. Purely from their own business perspective, regardless of how unhappy the users will be, Microsoft will do this. I haven’t participated in the SU16 beta so I will have to reserve judgement for when it is released, but released it will be.

Ah yes, the good old days when FSX was released and everyone complained it didn’t work well, and Microsoft said “don’t worry, it’s optimised to work with Vista”. And then when people first tried it with Vista, all they got was a black screen. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I gave up SU16. This new cartoonish world made me lose interest in flying this game. I’ve seen enough. The lack of color correction ruins the experience and above all immersion, realism. It’s truly awful. Nothing can’t be done to attenuate it. I’ll enjoy SU15 as much as possible before it disappears. After 5 years it’s a very sad end. I didn’t expect that.

Haha. yeah. Now we’ve got the modern version, FS 2024, the Windows Vista of simulators

So I had time the whole morning to (re)discover some regions in msfs 2020 SU15 and yes as I expected everything feels much better, especially ground texture resolution and colors. Finally, it’s not cartoonish anymore. Everything looks more balanced, realistic than in SU16 beta. The pleasure of flying is back and SU16 beta never gave me this feeling after 2 months.

Use reshade to correct the cartoon-ish, unrealistic looks. You can tweak it to a point where it looks really good, but it’s not easy and it takes some time until you find your individual overall best setting that works well under all conditions. You can start with a good reshade preset from flightsim.to and tweak it for your display.

Or you Rex Atmos, soon to be released for 2024 as well. I never used it with 2020 so can’t comment on that specifically.

most of the gigs you share are the original package sizes, the update sizes tho, are located at the very right side of the content manager menu of an individual pack depicted in smaller fonts.

Editing my original reply. SU16 has broke some aircraft of mine. I can’t even get the iniBuild A350 to load now. I am seeing graphics issues too. Wow, Microsoft/Asobo really know how to destroy the fun in this game.

What’s even funnier is all the people that were complaining because they thought Asobo had abandoned 2020. SU16 comes along and there is still complaining but I do think some of it is justified.

SU16 is working great for me too. :slightly_smiling_face:

There is no denying that MSFS has a very passionate knowledgeable user base with large spectrum of different hardware in use. In my case(PC user), SU16 has been mostly positive minus how EHAM now looks like it’s a movie airport set for the next Barbie movie. There will always be hiccups in SU/CU updates. Hopefully, with the 2 MSFS worlds now just 1 world, we will see further updates in MSFS2020.

What’s even more funny is that a lot of people asked Asobo not to come with SU16 because the beta was terrible. And yet they did it anyway and see the comp[lains everywhere. You are just one of the 5 to 10% that is not complaining, if you’re a PC user. If you’re on Xbox well ya…

because we normally do think that an update is meant to be a step forward not a horrendous downgrade of the aerial textures and lod for pc simmers as with SU16.

Yeah, I have to agree with the people saying SU16 feels like a downgrade. For me the visuals definitely took a hit — the aerial textures and LOD don’t look as crisp anymore, and performance actually got worse around bigger hubs.

I don’t mind updates when they bring something positive, but right now it feels like every SU is a gamble. 2020 was running really smooth for me before, and after SU16 it just doesn’t have the same feel.

Honestly, I’d rather Asobo slow down the updates than push something that ends up breaking what was already working fine.
