Significant FPS drop and Poor Performance After SU 12

Before the SU 12 update, I noticed that my FPS would only decrease during long flights and a fix that has been working for me until now is to reset the online settings in the menu.

Ever since the SU 12 update, I have noticed a significant decrease in my FPS. This is even the case in rural areas where I can notice a decrease in performance. I tried removing all my scenery add-ons, experimented with default aircraft, and I still notice a drop in my performance. I also tried to clear the shader cache, reverted to DX 11 from DX 12 and I don’t seem to notice any difference unfortunately.

Until the SU 12 update, my sim has been running smoothly around ~50-70 FPS with the PMDG 737 add-on and I rarely experienced stutters. Even in busy airports in big cities such as Los Angeles and New York, I only noticed a slight decrease in performance, but it wasn’t significant enough to ruin the simulator experience. Here is my PC specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor at 4.05 GHz
  • 16 GB RAM
  • Windows 11 Pro
  • 64 bit
  • NVIDIA RTX 2070 super

I also reverted back to an older NVIDIA graphics driver and that didn’t help either. I’d highly appreciate your help on how I can improve my FPS and get back to normal

Thanks!

I had exactly the same issues, took me hours to tweak everything again. I made video for a vriend you might consider checking since our GPU’s are close to each other.

Settings are different for everyone, please comment your tweaks after SU12 in the comments so we can all learn from each other.

Thanks for the video! So far I only noticed a slight improvement when changing my terrain’s level detail in the graphics settings. I tried changing all those “ULTRAs” to “HIGH”, and even put NVIDIA DLSS in maximum performance, but I only see a very slight improvement. I will continue tweaking and waiting…

Are on windows 11? You can check that game mode is switched on.

Good luck, it takes time!

Yes I am using Windows 11.

Just wanted to provide an update by saying that the issue was resolved by one of the updates.

Thanks for your help!
