My solution was also to revert back to XP11. I miss the MSFS skies and weather but I can push SS to 1.4 using the OVR tool for perfect clarity in the Rift S and the performance is excellent. It’s a relief to be getting some flights in again.
For the sake of the forum - my installation of MSFS would drop into a performance black hole after enabling VR mode - BUT, it would do this maybe 3 times out of 4, working perfectly the odd time. Visiting the settings page would do the same thing maybe one time out of two.
I am seeing the same exact problem on my old 1660ti system.
This started to happen at this frequency after the UK update, but I actually saw this happen a couple of times in December after the VR update.
There is without doubt a serious intermittent issue with the rendering or the initialisation of the rendering.
The intermittent nature of this performance black hole coming and going is leading many folks to think they’ve fixed it using whatever tweak they’ve done prior to launching the sim for the tenth time in a row.
To me, the location specific performance black hole is another manifestation of the same underlying issue.
So I’ve cancelled the gamepass some time ago, reinstalled XP11 on my new system, and I’m dropping in here to watch everyone going round in circles with tweaks and fixes.
