Flying the PC-12 on a PC. I select a medium cargo mission. I’m sitting in the parking area before the flight and I’ve entered the information for a VFR flight - example: destination runway RWY 17, Visual 17 and Straight options and then activate. I delete a discontinuity and activate again. Double checking I find that the SIM has changed my flight to an RNAV or ILS flight, neither of which I want to fly. Trying to figure out why the SIM does not accept and retain my VFR flight preference.
In the flight rules box in the “registration” Tab, do you select IFR or VFR? Try ensuring you switch it to VFR. Then see if that helps. Otherwise, you could cancel IFR just before TOC. Your RNAV should still be there.
Secondly, RNAV is an IFR function, although one gets permission from ATC to to practice RNAV irl.
Thanks for your response. I always select VFR in the registration tab in the EFB but it doesn’t transfer to the PC-12. Even when I input the VFR flight plan directly into the PC-12 MFD, the SIM immediately switches it to RNAV or ILS when I really want to fly VFR.
