Hi guys,
I just booted the sim and when selecting a parking spot on any airport to start a flight, the sim forces me to begin the flight airborne???
This never happened to me before.
Anyone else having this?
Ciao Mark

So weird,
After a sim restart it seems it never happened.
MSFS will get a one off event every now and then that can usually be solved by a restart. Not backing out to the main menu and trying again, but a shutdown and restart of the sim.
A similar issue occurred with me immediately after updating to the new beta. Several of the dropdowns were missing and there was no option to fly IFR. After stopping and starting the sim, it all worked fine.
It seems that restarting the sim should be considered as the first diagnostic like the old “did you reboot your PC” instruction that I used to ask people when they called me at the help desk years ago.
I too have had this happen, but in my case, I was a bit too imprecise about where I clicked my mouse. Rather than using the drop-down menu to select the parking spot, I zoom into the airport details and use my mouse to select the specific parking spot I’m after. If I slightly miss the “dot” marking the parking spot then I inadvertently create a custom point next to the parking spot (and I don’t notice this happening), then when I click “Fly”, the flight load airborne. Not saying you did this, but wanted to add my data point
Thanks for all of your input everyone.
Much appreciated.
So after I restarted the sim I luckily was able to pick a parking spot again.
However, when I selected an origin and a destination airport, I wasn’t able to add any waypoints in between.
Maybe better luck next time…tomorrow.
You can add and delete waypoints but it’s kind of clunky. First, you need to change your filters so that navaids and waypoints are displayed. Once that is done, if you put the waypoint you want to add in the search box you can add or delete it.
Hi Mike,
I know but if I for example clicked right mouse on a poi, I could not select the “add” option.
You need to click on it with the left mouse button, not the right mouse button, to Add anything. You can even create a custom waypoint by left clicking anywhere on the map. At least that is the case with a USB mouse plugged into my Xbox Series X.
I wish I could set an option to not start at the runway. I just do it by accident so many times.
The sim is still not mature enough. Every time I fly I have something unexpected, so I actually spend more time trouble shooting then flying…
Hi there,
I moved this to Community Support.
Yeah you are right. The left button ofcourse.
But that didnt work that day.
Now today its working fine again.
I know this is an older topic, but just a heads up that a bug was logged for this and I wanted to mention it. Unfortunately, it is feedback-logged, but hopefully it will be bug-logged one of these days:
Thank you so much for letting us know.
Much appreciated.
Cheers Mark
I’ve encountered this on SU15 when attempting the “job shadowing” achievement – it seems to trigger for me by trying to click an aircraft and create a flight plan from it. Then sometimes all the airports stop working as though they don’t have runways. It’s always something with this sim!
