Sim freeze/CTD in content manager | Xbox

Removing the Community Folder, installing the update, and then putting the Community folder contents back in seemed to work.

I had an epiphany while the Series S was downloading the WUs, so I halted it and switched to my Series X. (I can’t be logged in as me on both Xboxes simultaneously).

My thought was to delete the Junkers, Deluxe Upgrade and Premium Upgrade content already installed on the Series X and see if I could download it ā€œfreshā€.

I can’t even delete the content without a CTD.

I’m thinking the ā€œSaved Data—>Reserved Spaceā€ is going to have to be deleted and all the add-on content redownloaded as fresh.

I’m going to try that now and report back.

What about people on Xbox series s and x?

Update from me.

It would seem deleting the 4 remaining updates and reinstalling one at a time from scratch has fixed it for me.

  1. after you get the freeze during installing. Exit to Xbox home and close flight sim. Then start flight sim again.

  2. one the sim boots, go to content manager. Select all the worlds or updates with update available and hit delete.

This will cause a freeze and you’ll need to quit the sim.

  1. boot the sim again.

  2. Go to content manager and you’ll see the not installed option. Click on it.

  3. you’ll see your remaining world updates - simply install one at a time

Ok, so, yes, clearing the Reserved Space has fixed the issue for me on the Series X. Upon boot, the content manager is now automatically downloading the Deluxe Upgrade and Premium Upgrade in the similar fashion as I saw on my son’s Series S.

I’m confident I will then be able to successfully download the Junkers. My assumption is that all the remaining content will download successfully as well since there is zero chance it will conflict with any pre-existing installation of said content.

It’s a bit drastic to have to redownload everything, but then if you can’t download the updates without a CTD, what else are you going to do?

For the record that ā€œReserved Spaceā€ is where the Xbox is storing all our add-ons. Since we cannot get into that in a File Explorer fashion as on the PC, the only solution is to clear the space in its entirety.

EDIT: Yes, the Junkers is now installing successfully. It seems, for whatever reason, there was a conflict overwriting existing installed content. Clearing the Reserved Space cured the issue.

Had same issues but I found that going to the Dashboard and then back to the Sim using Quick Resume would unfreeze it for me about 8/10 times.

Same thing is pretty much currently happening to me on my custom series x in the content manager with these 22 gigs in updates. I’m able to download the world updates at least the Japan one so far but when I go for the deluxe and premium version upgrades it CTD. So I went in to each one of them to start downloading each item within them one at a time and I started with the Beechcraft Baron and near the end of the download it CTD, rebooted and crashed during reboot and rebooted again and Beechcraft Baron download seems to have completed, then the same thing happened with the da 40. It seems like the game is going to ctd after each item I download and there are soo many. It’s going to take forever I’m only downloading a few of them. Why did they have to go and mess with the marketplace it was fine? I was joking with my friends too I was saying watch when sim update 8 comes out, it’s going to break everything :joy:. The problem with these updates and content releases is that they can’t test them on Xbox until it’s up on the marketplace, i think. I would uninstall and reinstall everything because I hear sometimes PC people have to do that after sim updates but then I would lose my DC-6 that doesn’t even really work anyway. Their was supposed to be a fix for that within quarter one of this year and times running out on that. I built a sickass thermaltake 900 just need a graphics card and build my liquid cooling loops so I can play this on PC which is where I should be playing it anyway.

Oh and every time I press the B button now it makes a stupid beep

Get worst than the sim update 7. First flight, first CTD. I have Xbox S

Mine freezes when I try to Fownhope great Britain update on xbox series x all other world updates have downloaded

You have to wait. After few minutes the game unfreezes and starts download the updates.

Another bug: time to load menu after flight takes few minutes - the bar is in 100%, the game change pictures in loading screen but menu show up after 10 minutes - XBOX VERSION.

Just tested.
Updating in content manager

  • WU UK direct freeze after starting download.
  • WU France freeze after completing download.

Deleting WU UK freeze.
After deleting WU UK downloading works

On Xbox Series X

On your UK just leave it As it is unpacking - be patient

Seriously have to wonder how they let things as big as this slip through the cracks? having the same issue here, just noticed deleting the deluxe upgrade will cause it to CTD then it actually started downloading upon reboot of the sim. trying that workaround with all the other stuff in the meantime as I’d rather not sit through hours and hours of downloading every addon again.

Got the same cant load anything via content manager on xbox sieries x. It starts the download then de compress the content then ctd. Ore it freezes if I press download. If I select more then one think I get a ctd straight away.
I reinstalled the sim completely still got the same problem.

You might have to do what I had to, which is to delete the ā€œReserved Spaceā€:

• Fully quit the sim: press Xbox Home button—>highlight FS20—>press Menu—>select Quit

• Highlight FS20 again—>press Menu—>select Manage game and add-ons—>select Saved data—>highlight Reserved Space—>press A—>select Clear Reserved Space

• Redownload all desired Content Manager content from within the sim

It’s a drag we can’t be selective about what we delete and have to face deleting all of it, but if it fixes the issue…

I followed this same process as suggested by @NixonRedgrave (Thanks by the way)

Whilst it took time to re-download all the 75Gb of files, they all updated successfully.

Experienced similar problems on my Xbox Series X. Content manager would freeze when trying to update the WUs. After a few restarts, I found that choosing one at a time worked, even though it would freeze (unable to move cursor) for about 20 seconds while the download said ā€œPendingā€ then it would spring back to life and proceed like nothing had happen and the download would complete no issue. So a bit of a bug, but not earth shattering. Thanks all for being on here and writing about it. Good to know it’s not just me.

After the last update 9gb something I get ctd after every single item I download via the content manager. I reaistallt everything after sim update 8 and I got I a lot off addons. But it’s just a nightmare now.
I REALLY GETTING TIRED OF ADDING MORE PROBLEMS AFTER EVERY UPDATE.
IT run well on xbox release since then its getting more unstable every time and not to mention the DC 6 DESASTER .
