No, never had that problem. Using TrackIr for 20 years now.

Offcourse trackir5 is working when it is on and does not work when it is off 
(My excuse is almost ending my nightshift)
Unfortunatly i havent used trackir for sometime now, but can it be that you have to reconfigure
The setup of the device because for example, different zoom changes or so
I have also used TrackIR for many years without any issues and am still using it in DCS and Arma3 but for some reason it has recently started freezing MSFS after approx 5 mins flight time which then causes my PC to reboot.
Empty community folder, fresh install of MSFS, up to date nVidia drivers.
When TrackIR is disabled MSFS seems to work fine.
I can only guess but when you use TIR you move the camera much more than without TIR and your graphic card might ask for more power or it might have power spikes which your PSU might not be able to deliver. A reboot has almost always to do with a power supply problem.
In my case a Reboot of the PC was cured by a BIOS update.

Thanks I hadn’t considered that and I will look into it 
This problem was due to a faulty DRAM controller and was cured by replacing the motherboard
