Sim hangs at Quit to Desktop

I’ve been watching this topic as the same happened to me. I don’t know the exact root cause but an uninstall and reinstall of the SU1 beta fixed it for me.

My best guess as to why: looks like the main install for “c:\xboxgames\Limitless” for MSFS 2024 is now “c:\xboxgames\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024”. So there’s probably some link issues now that it’s all different.

Note that AppData is the same Limitless folder structure.

My folder has been called “c:\xboxgames\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” for a while now as I tried several re-installs to fix/test this issue.
I can safely say that the folder name did not change with SU1 beta.

My mate de-installed 2020 before he installed 2024 and he has not had the issue. So one of the tests I did was to de-install both and then just install 2024 - it made no difference.

I think I have more or less concluded that the issue is something server related and outside of my control.

Although, I would love to be proved wrong and have somebody say “this is what you do” but i will not be holding my breath.

Unfortunately, 1.3.10.0 has not made any difference to the neither the language loading issue on startup nor the shutdown.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Only if I load an aircraft, I observe two things occurring:
1) MSFS 2024 does a silent crash.
2) Apps that MSFS auto-started, do not close (ex: RealSimGear device interface app for G1000 suite)
As above, the problem persists w/ 1.3.10.0
Notable - unlike the others, I have never had to force-quit MSFS in this case, it crashes and is able to be restarted.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
• Same as above.

A brief update, whilst the shut down issue still remains the startup issue seems to have been resolved as 6 tests this morning all had no issue with language loading.

I have the same issue and noticed this: when I have Steam validate files, it always finds two files (no description or other information available of what particular files) that cannot be “validated”. It then “reacquires” those files. If I re-run the test, everything passes. I then run MSFS 2024, get the same back button freeze. I have Steam validate again, and it again says two files bad. This suggests that the sim is corrupting two of its own files. Btw I have NO third-party addons running.

Same thing happening to me

Just updated to 1.3.13.0 this morning and I have just tried two quick tests. After both the sim quit immediately.

I have never had it quit cleanly twice in a row before. Maybe the server is recognising that the connection needs to be terminated and is actioning it immediately.

Can anybody else using the third beta check this.

UPDATE

Four test flights this a.m. and all closed immediately after exiting. I am hopeful that this is fixed but would like confirmation.

Updated beta here and its freezing every time when I quit to desktop.

I was hoping that I just wasn’t the only one.

It seems to work fine for me.

Seriously? I guess Asobo are running MSFS2024 on Linux.

I think I may have discovered something.
Do you have MSFS 2020 installed alongside 2024?

Today, following a tip to run BOTH sims at the same time to trigger a purchase made in 2020 to appear in 2024 (The Piaggio P180 Avanti - it worked!) I noticed when I quit 2024, it ACTUALLY closed properly (not still “running” in Steam).

Weird, huh?

Does that help with the crashes?

I don’t get crashes really. So no, this is a separate thing. It’s just really weird that 2024 closes if 2020 is (or has just) been running previously.
