So, i had a random issue spur up, and i was due for a annual windows reinstall anyways, upon reinstalling windows, i pointed FS 2020 back to the original install location on my D: Drive, it instantly located and remembered all my content. no re-downloading no NOTHING. instant right back into the sim !
Good piece of advice to know for anyone else who suffers a windows loss.
You re-installed Windows, left FS2020 installed on your D: drive, and just pointed the FS2020 installer to the same folder on the D: drive, and it worked without it downloading the 90Gb all over again?
I am just asking as I too like to do a clean Windows install every year or so.
I actually switched from the Game Pass Subscriber Version to the purchased version yesterday, and it took 3 hours of troubleshooting before FS2020 would start the download. Just getting it to downloading the 1Gb installer was already an issue. First error “You are not logged in to a device that is part of your Microsoft Account” Uhh, YES I am. Then nothing happened after selecting the target drive…
Oh we are still not there: now it will not even show the preferred target drive as an option, grr.
Lucky for me I am a little computer savvy, so after 3 hours of solving one issue after another I finally managed to get the download started.
Ran into other issues after that, but that is for a different thread.
I now totally understand peoples frustrations when it comes to installation.
One positive thing I found is that when I loaded up the sim this morning it remembered my settings and controller assignments. That saved me hours.
