I suspect this is something i’ve done, but my sim takes much longer to load. Seems to take 30 seconds more to get to the Japan screens and beyond.
Question : Has anyone else noticed that enabling hyperthreading slows sim load. After some testing on my X99 system, FS likes HT and the framerate is better. I have also done some testing to empty my community folder to see if that was the issue but I still have a much longer load time than before. This did not happen in a patch week so it’s something, on my system. The sim is on my Samsgung 970 Evo nvme drive that benchmarks at normal rates.
This isn’t a big issue just something i’ve noticed. Other large games load at usual speed.
If anyone can post their click icon to main menu times it would be helpful.
TIA
4 minutes and 10 seconds from starting the sim to get to the main menu.
Keep in mind this is on older hardware. 2600k - 16GB RAM - GTX 1060 - 7200 RPM HDD. The sim does run well ~25 to 45 FPS depending on how dense the area is.
For the life of me I don’t see why there isn’t a simple splash screen while loading the sim, much like X-Plane. It’s almost like it is loading the intro video, skipping it, and then loading the sim.
At least the Press Any Key is gone.
Click to main menu
125 seconds - i7-7820X/64GBRAM/nvme/few mods
My start-up time used to be around 1:40 from double-click to Main Menu. All I have are generally the Working Title GPS mods. It seems like there’s now another 20 seconds longer, which did not immediately happen after the last Patch. It took a couple of days, but now there is a noticeable black screen between the time Mt. Fuji first appears (blue line still loading) and then the Marquee Banner “Japan Update Has Landed” shows up.
It looks ugly, but back in the bad old days, Splash screens were a nice to have, but programmers would actually read-back what part of the program was loading at the time during the initialization process - so you could see where the program was in the event flow after double-clicking the icon. More usefully, if it died or stalled, you could send that information back to the support team in your ticket, if it wasn’t already captured in an error log.
Startup time is affected by quantity of addons that you have in Community folder. If you have big files as cities and this kind of thing the impact can be really relevant.
yes, agreed, i emptied it out and i still noticed the long 1 min from click to first xbox screen, 2:40 to the first japans screen and 3:14 to main menu. I have an X99 5960X @ 4.7 with HT.
I might try killing off my old config file.
Thanks all, comments appreciated and helpful. I’m working if it’s an xbox networking lag thing.
I wonder if loading the hangar in the background has anything to do with it? The hangar seems to be quite a resource hog while browsing the menu and perhaps it could be beneficial to have an option to turn off loading it upon start.
possibly. It’s ok i had just noticed a change that wasn’t update related so i’ve been trying to track down if i have any system issues.
