Sim update 4 - crash to desktop

Hi all,

Since the sim update 4, my sim crashes as soon as I enter the cockpit. So basically what happens is that the game loads, I plan a flight and when it is done loading the flight the sim crashes to the desktop.

The community folder is empty, all elements in the content manager have been updated. I have never had an issue of any kind until now. I use a high-end PC from 2020.

Thank you for your help and advice.

Jimmy

I got the same problem since yesterday. Flying 1 minute then, crash to the desktop.

â– â– â– â– , I wonder what the reason is. Have you tried to use different planes? Could it be linked to only one type of plane (I used the 172).

I hope I don’t need to reinstall the whole sim…

Hi,

I´ve got exactly the same issue.

So far I´ve tried, with no success to:

  • reset GPU-driver + reinstall
  • Lower graphics settins

ROG Strix X570-F Gaming
Ryzen 7 5800X
Asus Radeon RX 6900 XT TUF Gaming - OC Edition

@JimmyBamboozy Don’t reinstall your system, I done that replaced my CPU, GPU, Mobo, and RAM still the same CTD

Thanks for the advice. So no reinstall, should I just wait for an update…? I cannot simply replace my gear…

For troubleshooting try to start a flight without planning.
For me most saved flights result in a CTD since SU IV.

Three flights three CTDs. This sim is simply â– â– â– â– .

I think the only thing we can do is hope they come up with a fix… I reinstalled the OS twice and MSFS my problems started after world update 3, As mention I changed GPU 2080 Super - Rx6800xt ,CPU i7 7700k - Ryzen 5600x, Mobo and 32gb RAM I still have the same problems…

Not saying it’s your issue but I had CTD for first time in sim. I run an overclock it’s an ASUS Tuf board and I can add and remove the overclock really easy. So I dropped the OC and all worked, no crashes since.

Cool will try that! Thanks mate

This just happened to me and happened when the last update was released too.

Find your ROLLINGCACHE.CCC and, if you’ve manually cached any scenery, the MANUALCACHE.CCC files and delete them.

OH NO! But what about my cache? I think you’ll have to cache it again. Last time I thought about reinstating them after the upgrade but to be honest, after fixing computers all day long I can’t really be bothered to spend ages fixing my own.

Come on, Microsoft/Asobo. Sort it out.

Thank you all!

Does anyone know if I can verify the file integrity via the Windows store?

I’ve deleted manual cache - without any effect. Next flight: next CTD.

I really would love to see a “refund option”. I don’t need a deluxe edition and a couple of products from the market place when the entire sim is unplayable.

I’m getting CTDs too although to be fair it started for me about two weeks ago (maybe relates to a Windows update?)

I’m flying a standard C172 VFR with an instrument approach loaded in at the destination, no custom liveries. I do use Navigraph as well as OnAir but no other mods and this combination seems to generate CTDs randomly. I can go days with no crashes then others, like today, it crashes every flight

I just posted in the link below -looks like a similar issue:

CTDs and XCub after Sim Update 4

did you update your driver , I havent had a CTD for months then installed latest nvidia driver and got CTD after 5 minutes into flight
Went back to 457.30 and all good now

I installed an update May 26, but I don’t know why you folks are calling it “update 4.” There have been many updates.
Perhaps my problem is related: I cannot open any aircraft at any airport in Alaska. Tried repeatedly. I started a separate topic on this forum, and also filed a bug report with Zendesk. (Ha!)

It is updated, will check that, thanks

Because it’s called “Sim Update 4”
