We need an option to be able to use the previous weather system. I did a 5th flight today, Japan, Taiwan, ital, and more…always the same clouds, it’s disheartening…
I don’t think we can expect to see anything different until we have the hotfix.
I’ll hopefully be participating in the beta next week so I’ll do my best to feedback anything that’s amiss still.
Make sure to install the sim in a custom made folder. I got my sim deleted when it was in wpsysyem folder.
If the weather in that version works like it used too, please if you can, tell them to implement it in our games too as soon as possible
Yes spent yesterday doing that, thanks for the heads up
MODERATOR EDIT:
I agree it’s the same here on Xbox, impossible to climb above 25000feet.
I hope they will fix it soon.
It’s not pleasant to fly in this conditions
Je suis d’accord c’est la même ici sur Xbox, impossible de monté au dessus de 25000 feet
.
J’espère qu’il vont arrangé ça vite.
C’est pas agréable de volé dans c’est conditions
short test flight - cloud height seems to be better ?- I have not tested temperature jumps above 20000 !
in any case on the way to improvement !
same time WEBCAM:

oui, malheureusement c’est toujours pareil ce matin. La solution actuelle est de voler à des altitudes plus basses comme FL230 ou de régler la météo en direct sur OFF.
I have seen that too, but I think the clouds height is still not correct, plus go from flying in places where the weather feel more normal to other where i just get the usual random clouds! like tody flying from Belfast I could see the weather front in the east of the city made of strato cumulus giving rain ( it was like in real life at present ) but then just underneath the weather front and all around again the horrendous very low cumulus clouds, not only too low as usual, but also not present at all…it felt like having two weather system in gaame.
Cloud heights won’t get fixed until the fix is pushed in the upcoming release, or anything else for that matter. Perhaps the everlasting temp and wind jumps aloft, that’s a server side issue.
Will probably be so but I think that the rest is also prepared on the servers and only the presets are local !
MODERATOR EDIT:
I hope they will solve this problem soon enough.
J’espère qu’ils vont réglé ce problème assez vite
I have to disagree. The live-weather was NEVER accurate. It was partially perhaps but never for every airport. I tested each version and every time there were airports where the simulated weather-conditions were completely wrong.
But that won’t necessarily change with METAR weather, it will be just as partially correct for several reasons, OTOH it adds a level of complication that will likely just make everyone equally unhappy with the weather I’m afraid.
Admittedly I don’t analyse weather to n’th degree, but I have a good view of the approaching atlantic weather systems in central western Scotland (to the horizon), and what I saw out my window often reflected what I saw in the sim around EGPF/EGPK (closest airports). The SU7 airport metar weather system is way more hit and miss and sometimes ridiculously bad. The worst are the transitions. There’s also the haze/agl/msl cloud bug that could be affecting all of this too. We’ll see what the new beta brings. I honestly had zero issues with live weather pre SU7 though. I do have more of an issue that they dropped what should have been a beta testable feature on us so soon.
I would go back to the old system, because even though it might not have been always right when departing, but at least it was realistic amd accurate at that point in time that it was representing. Even if it was a 6 hours old weather data.
This would be a nice subject for an official explanation/documentation but if this is anything like the business model Windy is using, that would be an n hours old prediction of current weather,
Many people rather want it “time-synced” to reality than have it be a good representation of how weather works and flows. And yes we very well had that already… the best representation of any simulator up to date. Or let’s say a lot closer to what we expect in the real world. Just needs constant improvements.
Going to route they are attempting with update 7 is not going forward but backward.
Yes it does pose a lot of complications when flying online (I don’t know why people want to ignore my acknowledgement of it), but it’s not like there weren’t 3rd party options for it (freeware and payware).
And I still think the simulator itself should have such options.
Because the fact is forcing METAR conditions… ok let me try to picture it differently.
Forcing any kind of local conditions that may be significantly different to the global representation is not happening in real life so is therefor not realistic and yes, not “accurate”.
The word many are looking for when observing discrepancies between the simulator weather and real weather is “out of (time)-sync”.
I just wish we were more precise when giving feedback to the developers.
If we claim the weather model isn’t working, because the simulator is depicting a 120/18 wind, while the real world is reporting a 280/5 wind, despite the 120/18 wind in the simulator being modeled correctly and the aircraft, the atmosphere, rain and anything else reacting correctly to the wind and the whole ecosystem working as it should, we are not really helping.
Imagine you can’t have both (“time-synced” weather AND the realistic nature of weather) I’ll leave it up to you which you prefer. A weather model being in-tune with real-world conditions or a weather model where aircraft-weather-atmosphere ecosystem is as real as it gets.
But what exactly do you mean by “no problems”? No problem to land your aircraft or do you mean it was exactly as reported in real life (pressure, winds, cloud coverage and visibility)? Because I had situations with snow and heavy rain and ugly visibility with 200ft overcast during summer when at that airport it was 23 degrees and nice weather with only a few clouds hanging over the airport. I had such extreme inacuracies with every version til now. Otherwise they should name it “fantasy weather” and not “live weather” ![]()
Can the sim represent hail? maybe the snow should be hail.
