Sim Update Beta 4 Discussion Thread

Like no buttons work

cleared wasm, let it regenerate but looks like it doesnt regenerate it correctly.

You shouldn’t have to clear your WASM folder unless directed by PMDG Support. That said, I have not had any problems like that. Since PMDG does not support Sim Update betas, my personal suggestion would be to try verifying the aircraft files in OC3, then do a test flight from a stock airport with nothing else installed in your Community folder.

The issue was a corrupt MSFS installation. Thanks for the critication

Did you install your Community Folder in a location other than the main files of the sim as recommended when participating in a Beta?

If you have MSFS content installed completely on a custom path, you will have a much lower chance that a full re-install will be necessary when the update is officially released. However, if your sim content is installed in the default path selected by the in-game content manager, you may have to reinstall the whole sim when moving from the test build to the public build. We recommend that those who wish to test with us ensure your sim content is located in a custom path before joining the flight to avoid full reinstallations in the future (Details on how to do this can be found here). The best set up would be for your store app to live on the default C: drive and sim content on a custom drive.

Could it be an idea to also put the recommendation to disable the auto-update functionality in the x-box app? This way we prevent unexpected nightly installs that might go awry.

Updates are mandatory; always have been, always will be.

Any idea how to debug this mainthread peaks?

I suspect this relates to something in your community folder as it did with me.

This recommendation to store the app on the C: drive and Packages on another drive seems to be dated.

The referenced ā€œhereā€ link is also dated.

MS/Asobo has changed the install program.

MS Store:

  1. Displays selection for drive only.

  2. Stores the app, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, in the default drive:\XboxGames folder.

  3. Stores everything else in the drive:\WpSystem folder.

Xbox app:

  1. Displays selection of drive\folder.

  2. Stores the app, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, in the default drive:\folder.

  3. Stores everything else in the drive:\WpSystem folder.

The old install screen that had the selection of the Packages location does not display.

FS2024 loads.

Still recommended though!

This is exactly like SU3, make sure you haven’t inadvertently opted out of the beta.

New Update 1.6.18.0

It seems the FPS frame limiter bug is fixed at least for me. Well done, Asobo :+1:

Looks like the shadow issue is fixed for Ini A350? Can anyone confirm?

I wonder if camera panning and change camera stuttering has been mitigated in the new build

I believe only in sim update 5

So this will this new message not end up like this?:
