Sim Update Beta 4 Discussion Thread

So ….any guesses on a release date yet?

Is there a beta su4 thread for career mode

Not a general one as far as I know - just specific threads about issues being reported.

Surely there should be one if people are testing it and finding fault so they can enter it there.

If they’re finding faults those faults should be reported as unique individual threads just like any other bug report.

On the forum, we have a dedicated section for reporting bugs we’ve found specifically in Career Mode in MSFS 2024 SU4 beta.

Lots of various bug reports are already present for career.

Hopefully not soon as there are still regressions!

News for you. In complex code like this there will always be bugs. This SU is way more stable than its predecessor with far more progressions than your so called regressions. In order for SU5 to begin to further enhance things, this one has to end. I think the vast majority of us here are ready for that step.

I am asking this for the poster above who is confused about where to put his issue. I know there are bugs - it is support they want.

I’ve seen these ~1s microstutters too. I may have gotten rid of it by turning off FFR, but I haven’t fully tested it to be sure. I have had variable results with SU4. Some days, it is great. Other days, with what I think are the same settings, lots of stutters. It is true that I don’t always test it in the same geographic area, so there may be other issues with 3rd-party add-ons or the lack of My Library updates.

There will always be regressions. Not a reason to hold up all the improvements. They are already working on SU#5.

It seems to me that the SU4 beta is ready for takeoff, even though we still get stutters when rapidly panning the camera.

That wasn’t something the SU4 beta was meant to fix anyway.

For example - ground textures - still aren’t really integrated with terrain pre-caching. Setting terrain pre-caching to Ultra should solve that issue, but as I said, it’s not integrated yet because the devs first need to sort out the VRAM problem. Once they fix the VRAM issue, they’ll move on to improving terrain pre-cache and tying it all together. I’m hoping that lands in SU5.

I feel like we are so close to them dropping the public build of SU4. I’m ready to read the 2,000,000 character change log and pretend like I know what half of the stuff even is

I have my fingers crossed it drops today or tomorrow. If not I’m sure it’ll drop next week.

Today would be cool though, then they can talk about it in their update blog this evening. And we will have it in time for the weekend :ok_hand:t2:

You can get it now!

What do you mean?

I mean you can go ahead and download the beta right now as you could for the past several months. Why wait?

Let’s see. I feel that today is the day. Monday is the official release day for MSFS2024 on PS5 (early access already available since yesterday) and we know that PS5 version will be shipped with SU4 installed and I assume they are going to keep every platform on the same SU like they always did. I’m also pretty confident they will not release an update on Friday (hopefully Asobo/MS learned from the past) which is never a good idea. So today is my guess

As a user, I would like to receive this release on Thursday or Friday. But I’m still a developer, so a Friday night release is a very bad idea)))

SeedyL posted recently that PS5 is on SU4, but an older SU4 build than PC/Xbox. So it seems they’re not in sync, at least not currently.

And they don’t really need to be since they don’t even share multi-player servers I guess.
