Just to chime in here: I have purchased many of Ralph’s sceneries over the years and have always been impressed. I have his Halifax, Ottawa, and Winnipeg sceneries for MSFS and bought several for FSX. I find them to be really good quality, easy on the frame rates, and his support is outstanding. I used to live in Victoria and his CYYJ scenery looks very authentic. Love the idea of the smoker at the Flying Club. A really nice touch.

I just discovered these! Great to see given how little Canadian airport products exist at this point. I have wanted a CYYJ pretty bad? Is there anything official from FSimStudio about CYYJ? I have all their Canadian airports and love the look. CYYJ from SimAddons look ok, but some less than ideal bits. But I’m inclined to buy their Western Canadian pack. If just to support a developer so dedicated to Canadian location products. I’ll surely buy the FSimStudio, CYYJ too. I suspect it will look better and, again, I like supporting that developer.
But I really dislike having to buy/update from a developer’s own site. If I had to do this for all my add ons I’d simply own a LOT less. I can barely keep everything up to date with all but a few of my many, many add ons from ORBX, SimMarket and JustFlight. If I can’t get it on one of those 3 I have to REALLY want it! I really wish the in sim Marketplace wasn’t so limited and VERY slow to get developer updates, and new products up on their servers. I won’t buy any more products on there I can get anywhere else. I was SO happy to see an in sim marketplace, but it’s limitations are just too bad. I really would like to see SimMarket and JustFlight have apps like ORBX, it just makes making sure all my ORBX purchases up to date so much easier! I have to imagine Simaddons would make much more profit if their products were on ORBX, or another major reseller. I am a very avid MSFS flying, I spend a small fortune on add ons, I am always looking for decent add ons for Canada and I am just now finding Simaddons?!!! They would sell SO MUCH MORE on a major reseller, I can’t imagine the reseller cut of the take would be more than the profits MANY more sales. Do not make it hard to buy and update your products developers!!! Please!
On their Facebook page, FSimStudio said they are releasing CYEG for MSFS in late June: Redirecting.... With FSimStudio’s announcement of the release of CYEG, I am going with FSimStudio’s version of CYEG. Not only do I expect FSimStudio’s version of CYEG to be higher quality than Simaddons, but the price will likely be lower than Simaddons as well. This is a shame since Simaddons could have priced their CYEG more competitively but I don’t think the owner of Simaddons is aware of the upcoming competition and may not care about the competition either.

I had considered simaddons but they seem to be “good from far, far from good” in terms of quality so didn’t pull the trigger.

Yeah, I feel SimAddons had an opportunity to lower the price for airports like CYEG, before a 3rd party developer like FSimStudios came in to do CYEG. SimAddons would have made extra money from people like you and I looking for a version of CYEG, if their version was at least somewhat reasonable in price for the quality that it is.
But SimAddons is charging way too much for their CYEG, and when FSimStudios releases CYEG, I can see almost nobody purchasing the CYEG from SimAddons.
Just stumbled on this topic. FIY I’m working on CYYJ Victoria at full speed, and here’s are a few images of a first rough testing of a terminal model in MSFS. This is work in progress, but should give you a good idea about the quality of the modeling I’m aiming for:
Terminal with partial interior modeling is a huge part of the airport work, and except for some minor changes and bugfixing it’s complete. Note that even taxis and police are in authentic colors/liveries. No markings and ground work are present in the test screenshots, this comes at a later stage. All materials and PBT textures are fully custom. I have been able to get detailed reference materials for buildings, aprons etc. so the modeling is as realistic as it can be, while balancing FPS impact and cisual quality. I went as far as having several drone photo sessions over industrial areas in my area to create plausible seamless roof textures, wtill working on that part.

Hi, I’m working on it and hope to release soon, but the more I do its seems the more there’s left to do… Also I had to detour and release updates for my 4 other airports to deal with some post SU11 issues, and add some things using that opportunity. I hope I’ll release it within a month, but no promises. I was hoping to release it already, but it’s still not done. It is going to look great though.

Working on that. I have to overcome the MSFS CTDs that may be related to new developer testing system… I will announce it as soon as it’s ready for release.
Just a quick update: YYJ is in the final stages of development: all 3D modelling is done and imported into MSFS, I’m working on aprons, markings, runways etc. I hope to release it very soon…

However, I don’t think it will conflict because Sam Scene 3D Vancouver City Times is only modeling the south Victoria Sea Plane harbour terminal, which is quite a distance from CYYJ.
