Hello guys! I just started using Simbrief and I Have the following questions:
I was flying from SKBG to SKCC with a Cessna 207. The Route worked out ok once i started flying, however i was indicated to reach 6000 feets but there was a huge mountain range in front of me of about 13.000 feet! I tried different routes afterwards just to see if i get a higher altitute but did not changed. Also i changed the Aircraft for an Airbus A320 and i was given from Simbrief and altitude of 11.000 feets also not high enough to Cross those mountains. Am I doing Something wrong Here?
this question is related to the the export to FS2020. In Simbrief i select the ILS Runway but once i Upload the flight Plan in MS2020 i dont see the ILS Runway selected, and if i try to change this then the original flight Plan changes… is there a solution to it?
I’m no expert but I do use Simbrief regularly. Some thoughts:
You can set cruise altitude automatically or manually. In cases like this I would say for whatever reason Simbrief hasn’t properly considered the terrain for your flight and given an incorrect cruise altitude. Ideally it would take this into consideration so no I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong. But it’s good to check the outputted flight plan against reality and then change as needed.
I haven’t used the import feature much but I do know that in the world map flight planning stage of Msfs changing the arrival/ approach tends to change a lot of the plan. Again, limitation of the software and not your error (I don’t think).
I tend to use Simbrief as a good starting point then try to get the MSFs planner to match up as closely as possible before flying. Often takes some editing and sometimes some compromises; I figure it’s just something we have to live with for now.
I always plan my routes based on RPL (Repetitive Flight Plans). Try googling to see if you can find one for this particular flight.
Yes, this is very annoying. Navigraph doesn’t do that, Foreflight doesn’t do that, Garmin Pilot doesn’t do that, etc. To be honest, the planning part of MSFS is just horrible and feels rushed. I hope they address that so we can edit routes like i.e. Foreflight, where you insert waypoints or simply drag the magenta line and it gives you options of nearby waypoints, without breaking the route.
