Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• No, I do not use the sim rate functionality and am able to play the career mode at 1x, albeit with much slower progress compared to some others. I am able to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of an airplane at altitude, gives me time to catch up on podcasts and the like.

• Sim rate adjustment is not forced on me. Indeed, I am barely aware the functionality exists. Not really sure how “disabling” it will improve my experience, does it not default to a “disabled” state?

EDIT: There is a great workaround for people who experience this issue. Consider creating a controller profile for your career mode that does not have the simrate controls bound to anything - call it “Career mode”. Fly using this profile and enjoy career mode the same way I am. Use a different profile for non-career flying, and zoom around in free flight.
