Simulator Rate

In SFX one could vary the simulator rate faster or even slower than normal and there was an indication in small characters at top right of the screen to confirm the rate in progress.

R+CTRL+ number pad + or – works in FS2020 but there is no indication of the rate. I look at the passing terrain or clouds to assess it. In the “heat of battle” so to speak it is sometimes hard to remember what rate I applied earlier and how to revert to normal. Is it asking too much for a similar indication to appear on screen in FS2020?

And does FS2020 allow less than normal rate?

I am with you, this is much needed

I wish Asobo could add some indicator, for example 2x, 4x 8x, etc.

Right now, to return to 1x, I usually look at the seconds of timer or clock in the cockpit instrument.

Hi!
There are only two steps below standard rate. So, when not sure which rate is set, reduce the rate very often, and you will be at the smallest rate. Raise the rate twice then, and you’ll be at standard rate.
Only a workaround while waiting for ASOBO’s grace!

You can use simrate bandit, its great.

Or use dashboard2, DB2 -- Dashboard #2 » Microsoft Flight Simulator
It shows not only simrate;-) Excellent stuff!

Yes, the displayed sim rate is needed badly. It was in FSX, but it’s not in MSFS.

In the Q&A last night, Seb and Martial agreed that this should be easy enough to implement.

I can’t accelerate to the higher speeds because it seems that it not only accelerates the time, but the turbulence is also multiplied, causing airframe fatigue and crash.

Until they implement it, you’ll have to look at the clock on the dashboard and make a judgement on how fast it’s ticking over

A display of the rate would be perfect, but failing that at least let me bind a key-combo that reverts it back to normal.

And I think one of them in the Q&A last night said he didn’t even know what it was, lol.

No, he just thought it was a question of frame rate, at first.
After all, “sim rate” isn’t a very illustrative term.
