I’m having an issue where the simulator won’t return to the main menu. I’m sure it’s mod related but I removed almost everything and run the sim as bare bones.
Does anyone know of a potential reason/mod that may be causing this?

No. I play in full screen. So, when i push main menu it goes back to the loading screen, the blue bar fills up but it doesn’t go back to the menu. Just stays on that screen. The little messages down the bottom keep cycling. Have to force close the sim and reload it.
I have had this happening of late also after ending a flight and returning to the main menu. I find if I fully shut down the plane which then displays the flight log and then I go back to the main menu it does not hang.
Kind of. I emptied everything out of my community folder. Then linked everything back with addon linker. Addon linker was becoming cumbersome so i just put everything back in my community folder and never had the problem again.
It’s been happening to me, too, for the past few weeks. Every time I shutdown the plane after landing and taxing and click Return To Main Screen, the progress bar freezes at about 30% and the music loop just keeps playing. The mouse pointer disappears when I move it over the sim window so I cannot click the Close icon to end the game, so I have to use Task Manager to end the task.
