It does need a lot of nose down trim. White bar on the trim wheel pointing forward or even slightly downwards.
Iām finding the nxi and kodiak combo is causing ctds on load with any plane that uses the nxi. Itās made testing the new c172 cfd aerodynamics a real pain so much so that the kodiak is no longer resident in my community folder.
I found the ctds were more common while trying to load cold and dark. Starting in the air would usually work and oddly enough afterwards I could load cold and dark too, at least once anyway.
No issues.
Where do you click to mute the TWAS warning? Isnāt there a clickspot somewhere in the cockpit?
Do any of you happen to own any airfield by Burning Blue Design or Pilot Plus?
With these airfields and using the Kodiak + nxi it is a guaranteed CTD having clicked āfly nowā and before it loads in. When I reverted to SU8 the problem went away.
Unless the nxi update for SU9 fixes this l by chance, then in a few days the Kodiak is going to be all but unusable. Iām not pointing the finger at the nxi but I donāt believe SWS or the airfield developers are planning an update. Yes I could fly with the stock G1000 but I donāt want to as it is a significant downgrade to the experience. Itās awful by comparison.
Itās not just the nxi thatās the problem for me. Itās all three variables together, if I swop any element of it for something else then it works fine. That includes any other aircraft using the nxi.
TAWS INHIBIT button just under the MFD.
Iām only hearing the TAWS testing sporadically at power up. Itās that a known bug?
SU9 beta again
Where are we at with G1000 NXI crashes with the Kodiak? Iām flying on Xbox.
Iām still on SU8 (no SU9 beta testing) and I experience no CTDs using NXi.
Awesome! Xbox or PC? Any particular liveries/weight and balance variables that you would recommend or avoid? CTD 9 out of 10 times for me, probably, until I uninstalled the Garmin mod.
no issues.
I generally use one of the default liveries (but a different one each time, depending on my āmissionā
), but I sometimes set others too - I havenāt experienced livery related issues yet. Weight is also different, most times Iām over 75-80% of MTOW (too expensive to fly it empty
) but Iāve also flown it with full fuel and no extra load on longer trips.
Iām using it on PC.
Sadly thatās not the case with SU9. We can only hope that the nxi update fixes these issues but Iām not convinced it will.
Under SU9 the Kodiak is all but unusable.
SU9 is just a beta and the compatible addons are not released for it yet. As a developer you cannot shoot for a āmoving targetā so until itās finally released you cannot start assessing the changes required for your product to run stable - if only youāre not connected to the Asoboās devs tightly. So I think this is something that can be called unfortunate but normal behavior - Iāll only have concerns if this state remains for more than 2 weeks after the official SU9 release. Until then we can only be testers for the reason above - and even if 3rd party devs are also using this opportunity to start testing their products before the release of SU9 you cannot expect updates for the beta. This might cause a lot of efforts wasted. If these updates happen itās fine but better to go back to SU8 if you see such issues.
I think your feedback to highlight these issues is very valuable and thatās why open betas are useful for the whole community.
Part of the problem is itās not a true open beta. There are too many risks involved with participating so many choose not to. By doing it this way it excludes very many users. SU9 doesnāt exist until itās live for everyone. At the moment itās just an interim experimental build.
Yeah, we are just in a cloud of confusion because WT said they were waiting for SU9 to implement a fix for the crashing. And as of now, SU9 in and of itself has not fixed the crashing.
It is likely a new update to the G1000 is still needed before we know if the Asobo fix made the needed difference.
But I see why people thought all we would need was SU9.
As I keep saying though, I donāt have an issue with the nxi crashing. I have an issue with the Kodiak + nxi crashing. This happens in game. With certain 3rd party airfields if you try to use the 3 together it is a guaranteed CTD after clicking Fly Now. This is something that SU9 has caused, but no developer seems to be that interested in it.
From the conversation Iāve had on the WT Discord the only fix for the nxi imminent post SU9 release is to fix crashing on the xbox. Nothing for the PC.
Although I think we all appreciate the development going to the sim from Asobo (which is needed), this bi-monthly random breaking of add-ons is getting a bit tiring.
Yeah. I work in audio. I am used to updates breaking add ons. But in that field, we get to choose when we update.
There is no massively multiplayer online world that must stay current so everyone can share it together in real time.
It sounds like we each heard some slightly different rumors, but hopefully the WT Kodiak issues get resolved soon.
Thankfully, with the number of add ons available now, I have enough planes I enjoy to weather sending a few back to the hangar for repairs (wait for updates). Some plane or Garmin is always broken⦠but thereās always something else to fly now. So this annoys me less than it did last year.
Yes, youāre right, they call it beta - hence my wording - but itās more a pre-alpha under development sneak peek.
Flightsims are very complex and until the updates are coming so frequently and they work on such basic things we can expect this. Only the previous, already more mature sims, having been developed for 6-8 or more years can provide a more stable platform especially of their development has been finished already.
Something to remember: AFAIK NXi is still not supported by SWS for Kodiak yet. Thereās the same reason - they cannot guarantee to be compatible with a product thatās still under development. They might use a logic that is disrupted by SU9 and not used by other planes similarly and that might cause a crash but there can be many aspects affecting this well outside of the sim and addons too. I donāt have the time these days to test SU9 so I cannot tell you if Iād have issues with that too but since the Kodiak was released I havenāt experienced such serious stuff - and I was tester for SU8. So itās not a general stuff, not every update messes up everything and especially not for everyone - but yes, just get back to SU8, fly and hope that itāll be solved very soon after the release of the SU9.
