SimWorks Studios Kodiak 100 one the best aircraft for MSFS 2020

This issue has been driving me crazy. It is a sim issue and it is not the same as the issue talked about in the link.
Basically Kodiak is being spawned at empty spots, not placed by airport creators, which is what the link refers to.

What is even more strange is that if you fly in close multiplier with friends who own the same aircraft, you see your plane’s animations mirrorer in their planes. So if you open window, their plane open window but they cannot see it, only you can. Other way around as well, if they open window, you cannot see it, but they see all aircraft of the same type with open windows. All animations are like that (open canopy, doors, etc.). It happens with all airplanes. Another Asobo curious design choice or a bug.

Glad it’s not just me then.

I’ve found for some time that whenever I fly a new aircraft in the sim, the majority of the parked aircraft are copies of mine-- even down to the livery. It seems to even out after a while, though.

I also noticed that. Before it was the Stearman, then Islander everywhere and now it is Kodiak. You can turn that off in config files for each aircraft… and then you have to do it for each livery, which is a lot in case of Kodiak (i guess i will never need extra livery for that plane)

The Caravan implementation is as you say but it’s not true to the real thing. On the real unit each CRS knob adjusts the course pointer on the corresponding PFD but MSFS does not currently support this. To adjust the course for NAV2 it needs to be selected on the HSI via the CDI button.

Hi all,

Having recently purchased the Kodiak 100 I’m really enjoying it, but I’m having an issue with the aileron trim indictor (or lack of it). I know it should be located on the central MFD under the engine information readouts, along with the rudder trim indictor, but for some reason it’s just not there. Has anybody else experienced this issue? I’ve attached an image for reference.

I’ve definitely seen it in screenshots and videos posted by other fellow simmers. I’m wondering if I need to enable it via a menu in the G1000 suite, or if it’s a bug related to my installation? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. It’s a very trim sensitive aircraft, so not having this makes flying a real challenge!

You need to install the latest version of the G1000 Nxi from WT.

I’ll just post my Mobiflight events for those interested. They show how to use some of the LVars. The Landing Lights and Fuel Pump events toggle between the 3 states.

KODIAK_LANDING_LIGHTS#(L:SWS_LIGHTING_Switch_Light_Landing, Enum) 0 == if{ 1 (>L:SWS_LIGHTING_Switch_Light_Landing, Enum) } els{ (L:SWS_LIGHTING_Switch_Light_Landing, Enum) 1 == if{ 2 (>L:SWS_LIGHTING_Switch_Light_Landing, Enum) } els{ 0 (>L:SWS_LIGHTING_Switch_Light_Landing, Enum) } }
KODIAK_STARTER_OFF#1 (>L:SWS_ENGINE_Switch_Starter_ThreeState_1, Enum)
KODIAK_STARTER_ON#0 (>L:SWS_ENGINE_Switch_Starter_ThreeState_1, Enum)
KODIAK_BUS# (L:XMLVAR_AUX_Bus_ON) 1 < if{ 100 (>L:XMLVAR_AUX_Bus_ON) } els{ 0 (>L:XMLVAR_AUX_Bus_ON) }

This is a limitation of the default G1000. We couldn’t fit both indicators in there and went for the rudder, which is harder to reach and used more than aileron trim.

Will SWS post here once their hotfix is out today?

I’m patiently awaiting the hotfix!! (the exclamation points and the “patiently” part kind of equal out to a little less than eager awaiting)

You will be notified from the store you purchased from as soon as they have it up.

For our site, we will provide 3-4 alternate links in your order e-mails to better handle the traffic load.

I’m eagerly awaiting the hotfix too, and I’m loving the kodiak! Easily my favorite plane so far because MSFS sets up so well for its u inquest missions.

Quick question on torque management for anyone who might have real world knowledge. Is there an easy way to determine power settings in climb/cruise. I have looked at the numbers in the manual but most of the time I’m in between them, which requires math/guessing. Is there something like pph at 320 or ITT at 680? I almost recall missionary bush pilot saying something like this at some point.

From MBP’s videos in the real airplane, climb out generally will reference ITT at 720 (not sure how well ITT is modelled in the sim?). Cruise power between 5000’-13000’ is 1250 torque, cruise over 13000’ use 700 ITT. Cruise under 5000 use fuel flow of 320 pph.

I just got an update for the Kodiak 100.

I have just downloaded the update. Do we have to delete the original file before using the installer?

I can never set ITT at 700, as the Ng will then flash red… are others experiencing the same?

Bought plane through Just Flight and I guess I might not see their update till after xmas but remain hopeful.

Justflight, yes, that’s where I bought mine too; I’m hoping against hope that they will notice there is an update to Kodiak soon

Yep most of the time I seem to be limited by the NG
