SimWorks Studios PC-12 (47 and NG)

I think you are right. I can’t really compare because I had not flown it for quite some time, but I was really surprised by the sensivity of the elevator, especially at higher speeds. Around 100 kts this seems to disappear.

I definitely found the elevator to be way more responsive. I agree that it seemed more so at higher speeds. I first noticed it when I way over rotated on my first take off with the new update and got a stick shaker. I’m not a seasoned PC-12 veteran but I’ve got a solid two dozen flights in it in the past two months or so and it felt quite different this time. No control changes on my end as it’s the only plane I’ve been flying lately.

No, it is supposed to be that way. The torque and slipstream of the prop make the plane yaw to the left and in order to save you from giving a lot of right rudder the rudder trim is to the right.

Is this meant to emulate the flap/trim compensation unit? This is the kodiak manual, but they copied the PC-12 flight model, so I think they are similar.

The rudder trim is already set for take off when ever I load up the plane which means there’s a good deal of right trim dialed in. That is normal. If you engage the yaw damper shortly after take off, it will handle the rudder trim for you and that might be what you’re seeing.

RE: the Flap/Trim compensator, I’m actually not sure if the PC-12 has one but either way, it shouldn’t affect the rudder trim. I would imagine that the compensator’s function is just to help the pilot cope with large pitch changes due to flap extension and retraction by automatically trimming the elevator.

Hey guys the SWS PC12 Update 1.5.1 1.5.2 have been out about 10 days ago, just wanting to know and ETA MSFS 2020 update time frame?

Thank you for all you do!!! Scooter

It seems to be impossible to land this thing at St Barths in MSFS 2024. Once you touch down the aircraft wants to bounce and get up in the air again.

It’s a shame because I enjoy this one more than the Carenado version in the air but St Barths is such a crucial destination when doing Tradewind operations that I might have to wait until these issues are sorted out.

Yep this approach distinct excelent FM from others…

The same problem exists in MSFS 2020.

Hope someone will do the new PC-12 Pro, wink wink https://www.pilatus-aircraft.com/en/news/pc-12-pro

Took a little practice and experimenting with settings but I’ve got it down now.

I’m really hoping for that.
I could already imagine who could do that…

You need to get real slow. In the old FM you needed some 25 pct up trim to have elevator authority for the flare.

I can’t get slow enough for runway 10 at St Barths then. The glide path is just too steep.

I just purchsed the PC 12 about two weeks ago. I have been a licensed pilot since 1978, about 30 years flight swimming, and have owned all kinds of payware aircraft in sims. I love the PC12, it requires some study, some practice, but once you have it nailed down, it is a blast to fly. Yesterday I took off from KEYW rwy 27, an airport that I used to fly in and out of in real life many times. At around 50 knots or so on takeoff roll, the aircraft started swerving to the right side of the runway, which surprised me, because I thought I had the centerline nailed on my takeoffs and landings pretty much. I then looked at the winds, and I realized I had a 90 degree crosswind from the right at 18 gusting to 36 knots.. No wonder it swerved, that weather vaning will get you every time. The PC 12 is the best!!!

Last update made this plane fantastic. For the price, which is almost half the price of some other turboprops in the sim, it’s amazing value for money.

Also I have to say it makes me happy to see a dev team work so hard on updating their planes after release, listening to actual feedback from the customers. You see this less and less nowadays. Well done.

Well said. SWS are probably the best listeners out there when it comes to a Dev team and their customer base. We know we all can’t be pleased and satisfied but they listen and try to action as much as they can. It really goes a long way as far as I’m concerned.

Yeah!! I can’t speak to how much it improved because I’d stayed away from it due to the lukewarm reviews and only jumped on the wagon when I read about the big update, but I’m a self admitted snob when it comes to aircraft detail and I LOVE it. Whatever problems it had before, it’s great now.

Extremely satisfying to fly. Feels bigger than I was expecting, in some ways it reminds me more of the Lear than like the more similar FSR500 from the cockpit. It has that big, heavy, serious plane feeling.

Also probably my favorite era of panel, mostly steam gauges with some more modern digital stuff here and there so I don’t have to baby sit the entire time.

Have a look at this. It might help.
