… I’ve been getting a weird, rhythmic stutter…
Taxiing, in flight… doesn’t matter… it’s constant… about 1 “stutter” per second…
Anyone else?

Haven’t looked this morning but had this a couple times in the past. Reboot your system and double check your nvidia settings if you updated those drivers.
I’ve never tinkered with nVida settings… something specific I should do/look for ?
Delete and recreate the rolling cache file
I’ve always had that disabled…
I don’t know about any server outage but I was having a weird issue just like that in the main menu even yesterday. Every second or two a freeze for maybe 200ms then normal again. But it was consistent timing.
Very odd and I had no idea what was going on. I restarted MSFS and it was still happening.
Instead of doing any deeper troubleshooting I just rebooted my whole machine and it was fine after so shrug.
If you think about what the cache does, it smooths out blips in latency by storing regularly downloaded areas to disk. This allows for faster consistent access to that data without having to download it each time. Its not about the speed of your internet connection, of how reliable that connection is, but you can’t account for slight fluctuations in the servers serving out that data. Thats where the cache comes in.
So I just had this again and spent some more time troubleshooting. In my case it turned out to be the Fenix application! Soon as I killed it, the regular every couple of second stutter went away. Restarted it and all was fine still.
So I don’t know if you use/fly the Fenix A320 or if you had the app running at the time but it seems there might be some bug in the app that causes it to get in a messed up state and restarting it (you have to fully exit it, not just close it because it goes to the notification tray) fixes it for me.
I had a glassy smooth running sim, until today… almost out of the blue…
Got plenty of PC… i9 13900 / 3080ti… never had to tinker with anything,
Now it crazy…, not stutters like when you’d encounter dense scenery… just a constant “ hiccup “… about every second…
Other thing to check / do is clear the shader cache in the Windows storage cleanup area. Tbh, it’s usually only after a driver update that this can cause problems, but worth a try.
I usually fly in VR, but test in 2D just to see if things are running well.
Things are not running well, I can’t even get it to go beyond the initial loading screen.
Here we go again…
… and clean the Nvidia Cache too.
2 CTD this morning using the CJ4 out of KTEB, screen was extremely stuttery, intermittent flashes, aircraft difficult to control and ATC stopped within three minutes after take-off. Gave up for today.
OK… did a complete reinstall of MSFS, overnight… cleared all the nvidia caches… cleared the shader cache through disk cleanup…
…tested with default C172
Same problem… rhythmic, hiccups… ~ one per second
For those who might find or follow this thread… and thanks to those who responded…
I ran that display driver remover… DDU, I believe… then installed an older nvidia driver, from a time I remember flawless performance…
… and all is well (knock wood)
Great news, glad you got it sorted ![]()
Might have to do the same because I’m having this back again and it isn’t Fenix this time
What options do you use on DDU? There are a lot that sound kind of scary.
Question do you fly in VR? I thought I had it fixed, everything seemed smooth then I went into VR mode and bam the problem came back ![]()
I followed these instructions…
