I think what is happening and it may be the issue with your sliding canopy too, is that Just Flight have created an Lvar for the flap handle position in their aircraft called “LOWER_flap_handle” which is over riding the sims default flap handle index and reseting it to whatever value LOWER_flap_handle contains.

The newly introduced “Repeat Values” settings should help to “keep the flaps extracted”.

Note that the default setting for the “Flaps Position” is disabled (as all aircraft that I have tested so far / have access to behave nicely), whereas the default value for “Canopy” is enabled (= repeat values), as the only two aircraft that react to the simulation variable (CANOPY OPEN) in the first place both “automatically” close the canopy (again, those aircraft that I have tested so far).

I must admit that I “blindly” implemented the “repeat values” feature for the flaps, as I do not own the mentioned Just Flight Arrow III, so if you’d find the time to confirm whether those settings actually work for the flaps issue with that airplane that would be very helpful
